Here nor there
And you don't think if we had 4 open spots in 2013 with another 4 or 5 opening the year after, we wouldn't have offered him in 2013? So no, that is not lowering the standard, its a different situation.

Standards change with different situations, yes. As you have alluded to, sometimes they are even lowered due to the change in situation. With 4 open for next year and possibility more for the following, many feel we are in a position to be less selective than 2013. Given what Hines has said, I would say recent recruiting misses have also contributed.

While being recruited the first time around, Nick Babb clearly indicated a preference to play closer to home. Obviously, circumstances have changed on both sides to make this connection more desirable.

Can we have a recruiting standards thread so the Nick Babb thread can be about Nick Babb?

I agree. It seems a few posters here should have applied for lead recruiter when Matt A. left, since they think they know so damn much.

It's a solid addition, and it is always nice to get siblings and children of former players in the program, in my opinion.

I was busy all weekend until now so I just saw this. Awesome news. A little surprised he didn't wind up at SMU, but I'm glad he's gonna be a Cyclone.

If he's anything like Chris, he could be a big asset off the bench for us this year. I'm excited.

Ok...it's the addition of a body, that's about it. Lets not go overboard people. He wasn't recruited by a lot of great schools, he produced virtually nothing in year one, and his HS scouting report is hardly anything to write home about.

And personally....couldn't care less he's a legacy. We're not a fraternity house. Who cares.

Having said that.....he's here's...hope he makes a nice practice player and makes guys work really hard. Good luck kid.

Lol. Wow. He had offers from SMU, Texas A&M, Wichita State, and obviously Arkansas when he was coming out of high school. Gonzaga called him after he announced he was transferring. Arkansas fans were upset because it had been made pretty public that Babb was playing really well in practice but for some reason he wasn't getting on the court in games. Fans wanted him to play more. I am not sure how good he'll be here but you're making it sound like he's a walk-on who has no place being on a D1 team. Give me a break.

Our recruiting didn't change, as others stated we had one scholarship open that we were saving for Vaughn. This time around we have 4, and many more the year after. You act like we are lowering our standards here. We're not.

Our strategy did change recently and we've hear several Cyclone beat reporters and media members comment that we have adjusted our strategy.

I'm sorry your roommate/significant other urinated in your cereal today, but don't insult somebody without an explanation. Tell me why you don't like the post.

Because he can't play next year. It takes a very limited amount of knowledge to realize that a freshman transfer has to redshirt.

But I think we've already established that you have a very limited amount of knowledge, right?
