Fred could win 20+ games and go the tourney every year and there were still be someone here, and in the media, trying to prove that taking transfers is too risky. That's the read I have on that article and this thread at least.

Go suck on some hard candy and listen to NPR.

These aren't former Cyclones. They are on campus and enrolled in classes. The incidents happened in the same semester as their sport was played. Let's stop pretending that the second the final buzzer sounds they stop representing the University and that their actions stop reflecting on the school.
OK, fine. They are technically still ISU students. They are no longer a part of the men's basketball team though, and their actions should only reflect on the university as much as the actions of any other non-student athlete. That is to say, they shouldn't reflect on the MBB program AT ALL.

HOGUE SMASHED! I mean, HOGUE SMASH!

The appropriate penalty would be to have the Cyclones forfeit their wins in the NCAA tourney this year and call it good.

Our program, and quite a few others out there as well, seem to be overflowing with a rampant scourge of uncharacteristic juvenile behavior *sarcasm*: http://arrestnation.com/2015-stats/ I find it quite odd that this journalist would strike out at ISU. The numbers on arrestnation aren't completely current, but even if the top 3 haven't had another arrest we would be tied for 1st on the list, not leading it.

Even with a small uptick in citations this last year that seems to be focused more heavily than normal around the bball team, the total number of charges seems rather insignificant to me. Sure the coaching staff needs to constantly focus on educating and monitoring the student athletes, but these are young college kids attending a University that, for better or worse, has a strong drinking culture. If you are worried about some sort of party-crazed atmosphere turning prospect's parents off of the University the biggest black eye to the school image due to rowdy drinking, VEISHEA, isn't even in the equation anymore.

Such a pointless and misconstrued article. I wonder what agenda the author really has in bringing it forward in this context? Are we recruiting against one of his Illinois schools for a prospect or something?

Yeah, we do have a nice sportsbar at West Towne near the training facilities. Maybe that helps recruiting.

Our program nationally is known for an effective and exciting offense that can spread the court. I am disappointed with the arrests, but a lot of programs have these issues.

It probably could be worse where players commit violent crimes.

On kind of a similar note I hope Fred stops taking any major recruiting risks but the recent events weren't really with guys with risks to the best of my knowledge. It's not like either Hogue or Kourtlin had major issues anywhere else. Some of this stuff will happen. I hope this is the end of it though.

College kids drink or smoke pot then do stupid things, shocking. They are being typical college kids, no need to freak out. Its not like they are getting in fights with cops.
