Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

I have no idea who Jeremy's sources are or what they're saying.

Pollards comments aren't smoke. He's been saying that same stuff since day 1.

Bulls smoke is media as well. In fact, a Chicago radio show was quoting the DM rag a couple days ago. Thats reliable.

Do I think its a possibility? Sure.
Do I think he leaves this summer? No.

What about the fact that CW even said he thinks Hoiberg is back next year. Is that smoke that Fred might be staying? I bet if CW said he thinks Fred is leaving, you'd be all over it saying there's more smoke coming from CW.
Jesus, You asked the question. I have heard nobody say it is a certainty he is leaving, many have said they feel very strongly he will be here. I have heard a lot of folks say in the know they feel a lot less sure about it. This is smoke and that may be all it is. You say you don't see the smoke but what you are asking for is fire.

Awesome read, Blum. I haven't enjoyed reading one of your contributions this much since your "Let's all remember the 2002 Oklahoma debacle" funfest a while back. Keep the good times coming! :jimlad:

You see speculation as smoke.
I see speculation as speculation.
When there are rumors of Fred going to talk to the bulls after Thibs gets fired, that's smoke.
If The Bulls offer Fred the job and he accepts, thats fire.

You are 100% correct. No one knows anything. But the people who are freaking out about others talking about the possibility of Hoiberg leaving or telling people to calm down because he definitely isn't going anywhere is dumb.

National NBA writers (who have a ton of actual sources), Chicago Bulls media and writers, Iowa media, and our own freaking AD are talking about the potential of Fred leaving. But for some reason we aren't supposed to talk about it on CF. And when someone writes about it, its click bait? Give me a break.

This is usually how I feel but in this instance I think if all of this is true and going down Fred's already talked to them and the rest is just a formality

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

Well that's your problem. It has been reported the Bulls have discussed the position with Hoiberg. Hoiberg is their #1 candidate etc. Assuming the reporters have sources that is smoke. Jeremy talks to people like Otz who know things and he feels much less certain that is smoke. what you fail to get is nobody is speculating he is for sure gone (outside of a few crack pots) they are telling you the possibility is very real this time. Thats it. He may go he may stay but the situation is very real. That IS new and it's smoke. Whether you partake in it or not is fine. But quit acting like we shouldnot be discussing or worried.

Why is it any sort of problem to call it speculation? Nobody has posted anything with any kind of substance on this thing yet.

It may happen. It may not. I'm not sure at all why so many are so aggressive towards anyone who thinks these posts are speculation at this point, but it's getting kind of nasty around here when it doesn't have to.

I haven't seen this. I have no doubt it's true but i haven't seen it. Granted, I haven;t looked. :)

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

I kinda think it might eat at Fred seeing what Golden State is doing this year. I'm not sure if he could have had that job last year if he wanted it or not.

But if it was his, and he turned it down, then it would suck to watch them have the best record in the nba, with the MVP of the league, who is a 3 point shooting freak. This Golden State team has Hoiball written all over it, he's gotta believe he would be doing just as well if he was the coach there.

He may not want to pass up another opportunity, if it's right there for him.

Did you write that purely as click-bait?

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

Below are a few of the comments I made on a restricted portion of the site 24-48 hours ago, posting here as people seem to be really delusional and in denial...

So, here is my take-away from Jeremy's comments. Until recently, Hoiberg wasn't even really considering the Bulls job, but now he is. And based on good sources, Jeremy thinks Hoiberg is finding the opportunity pretty attractive. That's it.

Of course, there are plenty of reasons why Hoiberg might find the Bulls job attractive. That doesn't mean he will take it.

I still hope that Hoiberg has a sense of unfinished business here and wants to make another run at the NCAA championship. The legacy that is Hoiberg in Ames is just too good of a story to dream up. The NBA fits that story, but not until more is accomplished with Iowa State. There is no story in all of sports that rivals Hoiberg's ball boy, to star player, to NCAA championship . . . all for the same team.

REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

SIAP, but ran across this while digging through some Chicago papers... http://national.suntimes.com/nba/7/...t-fred-hoiberg-favorite-replace-tom-thibodeau

The Bulls have long been linked Iowa head coach Fred Hoiberg. However, sources near that situation say Hoiberg, who’s been dealing with heart related issues and had another heart procedure last month, may not be looking to jump to the NBA and the stress level associated with it.
If the Bulls do part ways with Thibodeau, it’s unclear who they would target as his replacement. Sources peg Warriors assistant Alvin Gentry as a serious front runner

You guys ever just sit back and wonder if Hoiberg is just laughing at all of this. We haven't heard a peep from him since he thanked everyone for the well wishes after his surgury.
