The only thing we know for sure is paige's graduation party is not going to be relaxing for any of them.

And other people who claim to have inside sources are saying Fred is staying. So just because you say the person is knowledgeable means nothing. The only one who knows what is going to happen is Fred. The rest is just conjecture even from your "friend".
Bet his wife knows.

I wouldn't dismiss everyone on here. I spoke to someone this evening who receives a paycheck from ISU athletics that basically repeated what a few other posters have been saying. Clearly there are some in the know that have received as good of information that is out there from good sources, it would seem anyway. Nothing has been etched in stone yet, but coaches are very aware of the situation, and for those begging Fred to stay, you're barking up the wrong Hoiberg tree. Wish him the best, but I think he is gone. I just pray to God that JP's plan is not to hand the keys of a current top 10 program to someone who is completely unproven, that will be a much bigger tragedy than Fred leaving.

A lot of people have said a lot of stuff. Don't be vague, what did they tell you?

This is right in line with what Im hearing. All I know is next years team is REALLY talented and will win a TON of games no matter who is coaching.

I'm 90% sure he's not leaving for several different reasons. Just having surgery, the team that's returning, the way last year ended, not even making the Final Four(or elite 8), not winning the Big12, not landing a major recruit. I think there's tons he wants to achieve... And be can pretty much do all of that next year.

Also might not be popular, but he could be grooming Otz.

I always thought it would be Charlie Henry

All of your post on CF have been tied to the potential coaching change.

If a change happens, i want you to post the details of your above post (not names, but specific info on these said interactions). If Fred is here next year, do the same.

I would guess even Fred's coaches no very little at this time. I just don't believe that several months ago CFH would have been able to call TJ and say "pst, hey, huge deal going to happen...get to Ames." That would have leaked....now, maybe if Fred leaves TJ opens up a bit...heck, JP would have to justify why/how he hires the next person. Oh, the drama.

Paige to KU. Otz to ISU. Neither happen if Fred is staying. Fred/Bulls don't have any info I don't already know.

So by barking up the wrong Hoiberg tree you apparently are insinuating that Carol wants to move to Chicago.

No. Fred isn't going to make any moves unless his family and him are all on the same page. He said going to the NBA is his dream. If his house is like mine, happy wife...as the saying goes.

I've heard that Carol really loved Chicago for a number of years now.

Just because someone grew up in town X, doesn't mean they wouldn't rather live in City Y as an adult.

Fred's dream job (NBA) may just coincide with a place that his family really liked.

dont anyone believe for one second that this is Fred's decision...because it's always the wife's final say...always. What people seem to be discounting, maybe not, is both of their parents live 2 miles away and their mortality draws closer amd closer..when u have kids and a family that's a big deal.

You also have to remember Fred doesn't have the world's best heart... So following through with a dream right now might be the only opportunity he gets to coach the Bulls.

I've come to the conclusion we all make decisions for a variety of reasons.

Maybe Fred's kids want a big city HS experience?

Fred would be making, probably, $5 mil a year in the NBA....that is private jet money if getting back to Ames for family is a priority. Or, moving a family member...or many other things.

Maybe Fred wants to deal with professionals (players). Yeah, you hear of egos, but he also was in the biz before and would likely draft/trade for people that would work for him. It's a business, you screw up, you are fined. No worrying if your players are too loud for their neighbors, etc.

Again, I'm not worrying either way. If it were ME...I'd stay...I'd see this as my chance to be ISU/Ames (and really even the state of Iowa's) greatest...doing things with the most unique story (ball boy to national champ, hs sweet heart, etc)...and then become the AD at some point. But, I'm not him and he's not me. Remember Harrison Barnes? Greatly respected him when he chose to leave and what he's doing now....not the same thing, but people make decisions for their own reasons.

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

You're going to owe Dandy an apology

Why? what did he say that was true? It clearly was not a done deal last week as he stated, players were not told, and Otz is not going to be interim coach for a year. Now CW and Jeremy and the entire media reporting on this could be wrong but I will go wuth them. If Hoiberg goes to the bulls that does not validate ****. Everyone with a brain knows that is a serious possibility.
I didn't mean to shoot the messenger though. I do appreciate him passing it along. Just doesn't add up. If it's true a lot are saying it so maybe he did tell staff today or something and dandy just had the details wrong. Who knows. Certainly more smoke now again. Hope not fire.

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

I guess I don't understand what you're saying here. The way I read the article is that the bulls will get a commitment from their future coach before they do anything with Thibs. So it's completely possible that Fred would tell the bulls that he wants the job, and now they're working on a trade for Thibs.

Personally, I'm guessing they've asked Fred, and he's still deciding. I think the Bulls are going about this the right way. If they get rid of Thibs first, then Fred turns them down, they may be down to their 3rd or 4th option, which is possibly worse than if they would have just stayed with Thibs.
Well he is saying it hasn't happened yet And they are waiting for it too. Dandy said it happened last week and Hoiberg told the players. If that were true the front office staff would know that it's done and they are working on it. That clearly hasn't happened yet.

I'm assuming if Fred makes the move, he will be living in the North Shore. I work in the North shore and let me just say, Fred you will hate the commute you have to make almost every day. Don't do it. Also, the North Shore is full of the most stuck up people I know, don't do it!!!! Stay in Ames!!!
