Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

Looks like Hines took his first look at CF today and maybe his last.:biglaugh:

Why? Because some people on here are claiming he's nothing but an arm of the ISU propaganda machine? I'm sure he finds that flattering.

What is CW saying now about his thoughts on if Fred will be here next year?

He said that anyone on any message board saying they know what will happen is full of ****. Listen to todays KXNO podcast.

OK, but what is he saying on his thoughts about Fred being here next year? Last I heard he said he is hearing more smoke that Fred will leave but his gut is saying he will stay.

He hasn't said anything... but he did say that Fred has not told his coaching staff. You and Dandy both said that his staff already knows. (heck, Dandy even went a step further and said he told the players). CW refutes both of these. I don't think CW or Hines would reply to those tweets if they knew otherwise. They get hundreds of tweets and dont' respond to all of them, so they could easily ignore those tweets without leaking a story.

Again, not saying you weren't told this by someone. FWIW, my guess is you were but Dandy wasn't jsut given the way he's defended this etc. Thoughts?

Cytwins, given your history, your comments scare me more than Dandy's did. When do you think this becomes official? That said... I still think Dandy's making things up. I dont' buy he's told the players, or that TJs the interim.

I would never ever come here and post something I made up regarding something as serious as this. That would be completely foolish and grounds to be banned.

If I was the only one saying Hoiberg is a verbal commit to the Bulls then I would take you guys bashing me but I'm not the only one saying it.

Twins has agreed with everything I stated except the "players were told last week" part. I was told the players were notified last week after someone asked CW, which he denied. So that rumor is getting out there too.

Jeremy came in and denied my source's claim that the players know but you know what he didn't deny? That Hoiberg is gone. I'll accept being wrong there if it turns out that way but so far I have no reason not to believe Hoiberg is gone until Jeremy, CW, Hines, etc come out and shoot me down there too and I hope they do because that means Hoiberg is staying at ISU.

He said, there is smoke about the Bulls job being open and Fred being number one. After that, there is nothing out there confirming or deconfirming fred to the Bulls.

He did say he is hearing more that Fred is leaving but his gut said Fred is staying but I think that was a podcast from yesterday. I can't remember specifically.

Let's look at it this way, Hines obviously knew WELL in advance TJ was leaving and didn't say anything to suggest it was a done deal even when he knew it was. If Hines gets asked on Twitter today if Fred is leaving and says he is leaning towards Fred leaving what happens? People freak out

I think he knows Fred is leaving and is playing it off until he knows it's coming out but that's strictly my opinion

People are already freaking out

So I say something and Twins backs me up and says he is hearing pretty much the same thing but he's fine and I'm not?

I believe Im going to **** purple and it will taste like rainbow sherbet. I'm not saying you are totally full of ****, but I will take CW's word over you and Dandy's any day of the week.

The part that you said that Twins didn't is a big reason that you are being bashed more than he is. It's the first red flag that meant I didn't believe you. That's a more provable fact, given that players are out of town... and the timeline of a week ago telling players doesn't match up with what we've seen since, and I don't buy that players don't leak that. That's why coaches tell their players right before the news breaks. Can you find an example where a coach told players a week plus before and it wasn't leaked? Recently in the days of social media it's been the other way around. For example, it was leaked that Shaka was gone, then he had a meeting with his players. It was leaked that Stevens was gone, and then he met with his players.

Jeremy denied 2 of your 3. That's the majority of your claimed sources statements. You then came back with... well has he told the staff?!?!... that was shot down by CW. That's why you're being treated differently than Twins. Also, Twins hasn't actively defended and took offense like you have, he's added to the conversation.

Finally "Oh my he didn't deny this!!" is a terrible argument. It's inherent in what he said and what CW and others have said that anyone who claims they know don't actually know.

Five hours ago your source told you that he met with the team to tell them he was leaving last week and that was blatantly false. Fred might leave but I get real tired of people posing as insiders.

You can find my post stating Hoiberg told the team on page three (if you're doing it right and I don't know the post number) but no where do I say "met with the team".

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

I REALLY hope I'm wrong but I have a buddy with fairly good connections throughout both basketball programs and he's heard Fred to the Bulls is all but official. Apparently he told the ISU players his intentions to leave last week. TJ was brought in on purpose: to be the interim head coach for one year.

I want to be wrong here because I want CFH to be here forever but if my buddy is saying this I have to believe him because he has no reason to lie to me and he loves ISU basketball just as much as me.

Of course he prefaced everything he told me by saying this is what is the situation right now but as we all know people can change their minds in an instant.

He went in to further detail but I can either explain or not once the news is official. If I give too much detail and then I'm wrong I would really dig my own grave.

My original, unedited post. Anyone see "met with the team"?

Why are you so defensive about all this? Yet another reason I find twin more scary than you. His response was "here's what I've heard take it or leave it" You've fought back against anyone saying otherwise.

First paragraph: so since the players are out of town he is unable to communicate with them? I didn't know this device I'm holding in my hand can be used for something other than the Internet...

Second paragraph: Jeremy denied my players know and that's fine. Jeremy denied my interim statement but Twins backed it up. If Twins is hearing it too then why are you attacking me for it? Because I was the first to post it?

Third paragraph: multiple people have been stating people may know what is going to happen but they don't want to be the one to break the news. Jeremy is probably on that same boat here. If he said Hoiberg is gone and then Hoiberg stayed he would get crucified.
He has more to lose (this web site's credibility) than me. If I say it and I'm wrong then oh well.

And there is the butthurt

What? How am I butthurt?

rochclone claimed I posted that Hoiberg told the players in person ("met with the team") that he is leaving. I bumped my own post to prove to him that I didn't say that.

He has more to lose (this web site's credibility) than me. If I say it and I'm wrong then oh well.

First paragraph: It's been refuted by CW and there's no way it wouldn't have been leaked by players. That "device in your hand" is also the same thing that keeps this from happening a week before hand... Too many possible leaks would occur. You didn't respond with any examples of coaches telling players a long time before the deal was realeased. heck even before Twitter this was the case. Remember Floyd? McDermott? Alford? All the same story. Heck, Alford didn't even tell the team.

Second paragraph: As I said before, your comments and defense created many more red flags than twins. Saying "we said mostly the same thing" when the thing you said that he didnt (that he told the players) doesn't add up at all. If we're being honest here, your response afterwards about "he didn't tell players... but what about staff?!" cries out trying to save face.

Who are multiple people who say people may know what is happening but don't want to break the news? Anyone with sources? Not at all. In the same fashion, I could say "multiple people say that a reporter would want to be the first to break the news"... it's all comments on CF from people who don't know one way or another.

Now you're arguing that they have more to lose like credibility. Like the credibility CW would lose if he said that it was "100% not true" that Fred had talked to the players? Or saying that he hadn't talked to staff? Or Hines saying that he's leaning towards Fred staying if he knew or had heard otherwise?
