Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

First paragraph: It's been refuted by CW and there's no way it wouldn't have been leaked by players. That "device in your hand" is also the same thing that keeps this from happening a week before hand... Too many possible leaks would occur. You didn't respond with any examples of coaches telling players a long time before the deal was realeased. heck even before Twitter this was the case. Remember Floyd? McDermott? Alford? All the same story. Heck, Alford didn't even tell the team.

Second paragraph: As I said before, your comments and defense created many more red flags than twins. Saying "we said mostly the same thing" when the thing you said that he didnt (that he told the players) doesn't add up at all. If we're being honest here, your response afterwards about "he didn't tell players... but what about staff?!" cries out trying to save face.

Who are multiple people who say people may know what is happening but don't want to break the news? Anyone with sources? Not at all. In the same fashion, I could say "multiple people say that a reporter would want to be the first to break the news"... it's all comments on CF from people who don't know one way or another.

Now you're arguing that they have more to lose like credibility. Like the credibility CW would lose if he said that it was "100% not true" that Fred had talked to the players? Or saying that he hadn't talked to staff? Or Hines saying that he's leaning towards Fred staying if he knew or had heard otherwise?

Please quote bump my "he didn't tell players but what about the staff?!" post. Would love to see it.

And the whole "first to leak/post/print" a monumental story like this was hashed out the last couple pages by Twins and a couple other posters. Find that yourself.

What I learned today is that if I get information from someone who I consider a good friend who is definitely in the know I am never posting it on here ever again. I'll leave the message board to "I believe this/that will happen" arguments which are time wasters.

Wouldn't you rather have guys like me who are willing to post info they hear?

No, because 9 times out of 10, a random poster has no credibility, and it extremely hard to sift through all the ********. A lot of people on here have internet egos, and they need to act like they have sources in the know so they can look more important then they really are. Maybe you're that 1 in 10, but chances are that you're not. The fact that you are arguing with everyone makes me think you're digging for respect, and you're upset that you're not getting it.

I'm completely okay with getting told I was wrong here. It's a small piece to the pie.

What about the staff? Are you hearing if the staff has been told Hoiberg's intentions?

Man... I hate bumping your post and giving any cred... but here it is. This is the last I'll respond to you, because i don't want to feed your trolling anymore. Last poster hit it on the head... you really are digging for that respect.

My other comment: I just went for my run and listened to KXNO fanatics show. Chris did reiterate that people claiming they have a source are bs. He also said that he called an "inside guy" who said that Hoiberg did not talk to players about this. You should feel honored... I think he was directly calling your claim out... isn't that what youve wanted al along?

Guys, the knife is being twisted in or backs at this very minute. Fred Hoiberg has betrayed, and if I had to guess, he's sleeping comfortably about it.

we can't have nice things.

whichever site gets inside story first gets the hits and the Twitter feed and today that's $$. Hines works for Tribune not JP or Fred. Watch....whenever this breaks Marc Stein or Beck or Hines will break it first and within 30 seconds 1000 other outlets will break it. Hines is connected closer than anyone on this board.

It's sad how many would be mad if he left. He's going to the NBA at some point. Next year is likely the most talented team we will have in a long time. Let the new coach build a good prestige in the coaching community after just a year of coaching and whoever it is will still make sure this program doesn't suck.

Yeah there will be a lot of meltdown going on from a lot of people. In their defense, it would be nice to have a coach for once that doesn't use ISU as a stepping stone job. After all, I thought Hoiberg called this his dream job. That appears to not be the case.

If he is in fact leaving, I would say that the like people like Jeremy and CW haven't said he's leaving yet so people don't turn on him in case he decides to change his mind last minute. Just a theory but I know nothing.

What is CW saying now about his thoughts on if Fred will be here next year?

Not the same thing. And that happening doesn't make you right. The smoke is certainly blowing in that direction.

Why is that sad? A lot of us know what type of year we are setup for next year if he stays. If he leaves that expectation will go down the drain. Then add to it that Fred is the ISU poster boy, if he doesn't want to be at ISU and take them to heights they have never seen well then good luck finding a coach who will be loyal to ISU.

That's why I will be mad.

Your last point is what I fear the most. If we can't get our "golden boy" to stay I'm Ames, who will?

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

I would never ever come here and post something I made up regarding something as serious as this. That would be completely foolish and grounds to be banned.

If I was the only one saying Hoiberg is a verbal commit to the Bulls then I would take you guys bashing me but I'm not the only one saying it.

Twins has agreed with everything I stated except the "players were told last week" part. I was told the players were notified last week after someone asked CW, which he denied. So that rumor is getting out there too.

Jeremy came in and denied my source's claim that the players know but you know what he didn't deny? That Hoiberg is gone. I'll accept being wrong there if it turns out that way but so far I have no reason not to believe Hoiberg is gone until Jeremy, CW, Hines, etc come out and shoot me down there too and I hope they do because that means Hoiberg is staying at ISU.

Actually he has shot you down. He said nothing is done, and nobody knows. Everyone just has their own hunch. He has said you were wrong on all the material facts that could be known and that you couldn't know about the other one. Maybe you are right maybe not but their is smoke on both sides and to me that means they are probably legitimately torn as one would expect them to be.

Probably a below average coach that can't find a better job.

Most likely someone that wants to just use ISU as a stepping stone to a better job. It appears nobody wants to stay at ISU. If Fred Hoiberg doesn't want to stay here, then who else would?

This is cyclone nation. There are A LOT of people that are dialed in to the sports programs and university. It's different than say and Iowa where the plebs have no connection to the school. We truly are a family at ISU and it's closer knit than a lot of places I would say. People that you don't think would know stuff know stuff sometimes.
