Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

That was like 3 days ago pre elimination I don't know if it applies any longer.
Why, according to twins and dandy it has been a done deal for over a week and everyone has been notified.

And Fitzy, who likely is the most credible of that group, fwiw.

I'm starting to think it's almost a done deal and he's just waiting til the coach is gone. Cause what is the point in waiting, if you have made up your mind that your not going to take the gig, then why not just say that. That's why I'm thinking it's not good for Iowa State at this point

I don't know. Why are they waiting until the coach is gone. Rather, why isn't the coach gone yet? Sounds to me like the Bulls are waiting for an answer from Fred before letting their coach go. And Fred sounds undecided.

You're not understanding jsb logic. If you're not going on over a week straight of full blown meltdown, you obviously are gushing over Fred leaving. jsb has to have the CF record for most straight days in meltdown mode.

To be pedantic, Fitz actually said that Hoiberg was "all but gone". I guess that can be open to interpretation but he never said anything specifically about a done deal or anyone being notified.

Things change. If he leaves, he won't come back here.
Signed Lebron, Bill Snyder and others in anagolous situations (You said yourself the Lebron was a spot on analogy). Not saying it will bit I also wouldn't say it couldnt.

Well, Paige's party is today. He is probably cool enough not to steal her thunder today. It is obviously being considered. Otherwise why let this torpedo recruiting. Jamie meeting with Otz last winter in Washington, Paige to KU, Otz back to ISU...my guess is we know by Monday. Black Monday (or maybe Sunday).

Of course life will go on. But it will hurt Iowa State basketball. I'm not focused on this in real life. But I will focus on it on an Iowa State website.

Serious question, did you create nazty as an alt so it appears someone else is as up in arms as you are?

Haha yep and all the players, and staff, and media know but aren't saying anything out of respect for Fred. And none of the national or Chicago media guys know despite the Bulls front office being notorious for leaks. That's totally believable.

Wait when did JP meet with Otz in December?

There was some point within the past ~6 months where JP posted a pic on his Twitter of him and Otz out to dinner. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Well, the meeting that I'm thinking of was last June. I'm not certain what everyyard is referring to.

Jamie Pollard @IASTATEAD · Jun 19

Enjoying a night out in Seattle with @coachotz Great to catchup with TJ. Alison is 4 months pregnant with twins!

Oh yes, I remember that.

I feel like in reality there was nothing to that. I don't think JP would make it THAT obvious. Especially when Otz was rumored to be in so many HC positions.

But then again, JP does a lot of obvious things that most AD's would keep hush.

Ha so true. People have known for months that there was friction between thibs and the front office, and that he was all but done in Chicago due to leaks to the media. Yet now that Fred has given his answer, the front office and Chicago media is totally silent, but our entire team/AD knows, and they're all letting random posters on CF know that they know? Sorry if I'm a bit skeptical. I personally think it's a great example of the telephone game. "Fred is considering the job", morphs to "Fred is probably going to take the job", morphs to "Fred has a gentlman's agreement with the Bulls and has let the team know he's leaving".

I think it's a very real possibility that Fred goes to the Bulls, but to pretend that it's a certainty and set in stone at this point is just laughable.

I also find it ironic that people at ISU are begging Fred to stay, but it seems like a portion of Chicago fans are already hating the front office for driving Thibs away, think they are above NBA assistants and college coaches, and would probably be looking for excuses to hate Hoiberg the moment he got there. It's all quite funny in a sad way.

Because he hasn't made up his mind told Gar he would think over the weekend? Or because it is good free media? Or because he wants you guys to quit melting down mid season and be grateful for what you have? Or he is gone.

Exactly, this has been confirmed by nba reporters and front office sources from the bulls. Yet we want to believe 3 random posters That the Deal is done. I don't get it.

IF Fred takes the position, what does he do with Doug McDermott?

Rumor has it (at least in December) that the front office wanted Doug sent to the D-League but Thibs demanded he stay with the team.

Thibs and the front office don't see eye to eye. The Fred-Gar chemistry is what makes Fred a wanted man over there.

Would Fred let Doug go?
