Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

If you're hoping for panic, you better hope they let jsb out of her straight jacket and regain her internet privileges.

It wouldn't create a bunch of local family and friends coming over to your house to hear you are moving on your daughters graduation day. Sorry if you can't see that.

It would be a distraction either way so it was best not to come out with a decision Sorry you can't see that.

T-Wolves in the 2016-17 season is a much better job than the Bulls. Plus his family wants to be in the Twin Cities.

the status quo would be much less of a circus than a change. It honestly wouldn't be that big of distraction if he announced he's staying. He already has this job.

If that's the case then why is Fred going to end up in Chicago?

No idea. I still feel like he's in constant communication with Flip about the Wolves. Maybe he thinks the Bulls can win now. Hell, maybe Flip doesn't want to give up the job.

Would it not steal her thunder? Instead of nobody saying anything about the elephant if he announced he is staying it wouldn't be her day at all it would be his and would be front and center.

He could've announced he's staying a few days ago and stolen no thunder. And all his friends family say "glad you're staying" greeting him and move on. If he announces he's leaving all his family and friends will want to talk about is the move/nba. There is a reason most coaches bolt from town immediately after they announce they are leaving.

I have felt like maybe Flip was holding the seat until he was ready. Just don't see the attraction of Chicago at all, aging team, interfering management, crazy entitled fans, tons of traffic, etc.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

Haven't responded much on this issue, or even read many of the threads, but my first thoughts are he is gone. And not because he wants to, but because of the pressure. Not pressure from fans, but himself. His hometown, alma mater....he wants to win so bad it hurts. In other words it's become more than a job. An NBA gig would be just that..........a job. And with his health situation, that might be the best thing for him at this point in his life. Or..........maybe not and I am just spewing toenail fungus.

Fred needs to decide this week. Him not saying anything hurts Iowa State in the short and long term. It's not like this opportunity just suddenly presented itself.

I'd be pretty surprised if it's not done this week. Especially if Hoiberg is leaving.

I imagine it's a hard decision because he actually would like to do both.

Because there is no pressure to win in the NBA?

I don't think the MBB staff is the best source for info. They are not in the decision making loop on this decision.

Being a team, town and fan bases long annointed saviour is a different kind of pressure. One few can handle. It is more than just another NBA coach. Fred is ISU he is our hope of the promised land. We are Cleveland and he is our Lebron. That is an enormous pressure because he wants it so bad. I am sure UAB was not easy.
