This will be WHO's next source for the Hoiberg leaving story

Yeah, lets go get a proven coach with lots of experience like Greg McDermott.... How can fans of the school that hired Fred Hoiberg demand that the next guy be an established coach with head coaching experience? Probably the best coach we ever had was a rookie coach and fans would be stupid enough to question the hiring of another rookie coach? Whoever Pollard hires is fine by me, he's earned that trust.

Yeah, I can't wait for everyone to suggest EVERY rookie coach is going to have the success that Hoiberg has had.

First of all, McDermott was not a coach you hire to take over for a top 20.. or top 5 national program.

And Secondly, Fred is the exception and not the rule when it comes to rookie first time coaches.

Finally, It's funny how everyone points to Pollard's hire of Hoiberg but always disregard his hiring of other coaches who have not been successful. Including that McDermott fella you mentioned.

Re: WHAT DOES THIS TWEET MEAN?

This is timely. I was playing golf yesterday in that awful wind and my partner, REALLY it wasn't me, had to go bad. When he walked back his front was soaking wet. And he went on and on about the wind being the reason. To me it looked like he just didn't get it out in time.

Oh, and Niang is breaking the news that CFH is just FH to us now. Not sure if :jimlad: is necessary, but I'm guessing Fred would've turned it down by now if he was going to. Good for him if it's done, we'll move on.

Yep, time to move on. The CBS and ESPN hype machine for ISU will be a lot less this year with the new interim coach.

Niang's tweet, if it means anythings, just shows that the players still don't know if former Coach Hoiberg is leaving. From my source out in California, Hoiberg is gone.

Quick question. If Fred does leave, would anyone think about transferring before the start of the year? I don't know why they would, but nothing would surprise with the Chosen One leaving Ames after how last year ended and what we have coming back.

Hallice or Deionte?

I can't think of anyone who would transfer, outside if GT, who I already said I think is gone? Hallice and Nader may not have a relationship with TJ, but I can't see them transferring again, and both should be key players for us...McKay, Georges, Naz, Matt, Monte, Deonte, all have strong ties with TJ and apparently love being Cyclones, and all but Matt and Deonte are probably in their last year.....you really think those guys may leave?

To turn what others have said towards people in this thread that think Fred is staying... you have your head in the sand if you think Fred leaves and this team stays intact.

If Fred was staying at ISU, yesterday was going to be the day to say so. The fact there still no word from Fred today makes it official; the sooner we all come to grips with reality the better. If Hoiberg doesn't end up with the Bulls, he will be hired by Orlando or Minnesota or New Orleans. He's clearly burned out by the college game and needs a change of scenery for whatever reason.

His heart surgery and Paige graduating are clear milestones for starting a new chapter and a fresh challenge. Let's wish him well and hope ISU basketball can land on its feet after this goes down. We have a one-year window to hire the right guy, have a successful season, and transition effectively to the next era.

Question. When is the suspense date for college basketball players to declare for the NBA draft? Just curious..

Re: Hoiberg to Accept Bulls Job, If Offered

I'm not sure if aauummm is being sarcastic but if this is really a ploy by ISU/Hoiberg (which it isn't) to bring attention to ISU, we are severely hurting our recruitment by doing this. I have abstained from posting in this thread until now. Not like it hasn't already been said but if Hoiberg was staying, he would have put a release by now saying so to shut these rumors down and save our recruitment. The fact that there has been nothing said by Hoiberg, JW and JP showing concern, and the rumors a picking up more and more each day.. I'd say he's gone. I would like to be an optimist but it is easier to expect the worst and hope for the best. ISU fans have gotten really good at this over the years.

He is essentially gone. It is just when. First MA, then Darien, then Diallo, then Otz, then silence for weeks. 90 per cent chance Bulls hold all the cards. Damn Bulls. They already stole Floyd. Maybe we need a coach in the future who has no NBA connections, say like the UNI coach.

Don't the players always tweet motivational stuff, especially in the off season?

I'm surprised no one was rooting through the garbage pickup outside the house after Paige's party for clues. Although easier for WHO to run with a tweet from some Fox guy on the west coast that no one has heard of who seems to focus more on the NFL.

I still think the amazing Hoiberg legacy in Ames has a few more chapters to be written. He needs a Big 12 conference season championships and a true NCAA national championship run for the next chapter.

I have to think he really wants these things with Iowa State (and that a choice to do otherwise might come down to a coin flip).

I would go and listen to the Marty and Miller podcast with Dave Kaplan yesterday. Does a pretty good job of explaining things from the Bulls angle and what they are facing with Thibs.
