Let's raise the stakes on our little fan-hitting sh**storm and make this more entertaining for all involved. Mods/Admins, my proposal (truly, this is all in the name of having some fun while getting these boards back in check):

Until a coaching decision is publicly made...

  • 24-hour ban for each new post in the Hoiberg thread that claims "a source told me".
  • 24-hour ban for each new mention of "TJ".
  • 24-hour ban for any claims that Busch Light is an acceptable beer to drink.
  • 48-hour ban for any post mentioning Hoiberg's children.
  • 72-hour ban for each new Hoiberg thread created.

If Hoiberg stays...

  • 1-week ban for every member who "knew" he was gone.

If Hoiberg goes...

  • 1-week ban for every member who "knew" all along that he would stay.

Interesting tweets from seniors today. My guess is team told this AM and news will break today.

Then that must means the Bull's either fired Thibs and will pay his salary, or they found a team to trade him to.
If not, I am not sure how you can say that Hoiberg is the new Bulls head coach, unless you have different idea's.

As it stands now nobody is saying either, so not sure how they can handle this given the above

So if Fred leaves I assume the TJ 1 year deal turns into a TJ 3 or 4 year deal.
In college you cannot have an interim head coach.

TJ then goes out hires some AAU coach to his staff that has a couple of studs on it. Hate to get in the swamp like that but I think that is the path he would have to take.

The only concern is X's & O's I admit I am not familiar with TJ's skills in that area.

Have to get some good players. That's the key for Otz or whoever else comes in because after next year it gets THIN.

College bball is 80% recruiting, IMO.

Maybe keep Charlie Henry for offense X's & O's. Keep Mann (because you don't want to lose Man Man). Hire a stud recruiter to replace himself (TJ).

That could only be good news. The Bulls still have a coach. News wouldn't break that he's leaving until there is an opening to leave to.

Several players where at airports yesterday flying back to Ames. Pretty much answers the question. And if it is TJ. Then JP just punched his ticket out of ISU. Why would u hire TJ when u can retain him on staff? Makes zero sense. I would call Jared Haase....would be great hire and the guy can coach...his teams rebound and play defense hard and that's what wins championships.

I only see Morris playing one more year regardless of who the coach is.

Exactly. Every day that Thibs is still the coach of the Bulls is great news for ISU as the Bulls aren't going to fire him without having their first or second choice of new coach already lined up.

This is manageable. With the duration of the speculation, we've had time to adjust to the notion of him leaving. The meltdown will be under control.

I would say 90% :) I don't think a national title has been won by a team without McDonalds All American.

Who the hell recruits for LSU? That is not a basketball hotbed, but man they pulled some stud players.

I think you are right on the money here.

I highly doubt it. Once the players are told or a team meeting is called, the news will break.

And the Bulls still have a coach. Even if they fire Thibs right now, they aren't going to announce his replacement a few hours later. They will wait a day or two to make it look like they weren't lining up a coach when they already had one.

Sounds like you cannot face the reality of the situation. This is social media, Mr Putin.

Re: Hoiberg to Accept Bulls Job, If Offered

Yeah... Floyd goes to Chicago after being hired by his fishing buddy who then turns around and guts the Bulls roster and leaves Floyd hanging high and dry. Hey... that is what you sign up for when you go to the NBA though. It's a nice payday and then they sweep the rug right out from underneath you.

Exactly. The great majority of NBA coaches are hired to be fired a few years later, even the good ones. Players just tune out after a while.

If you were JP, how much would you offer Fred a year to stay in a revised contract? $3M or $4M or $5M or $6M.
