Not true. Fred doesn't have to say anything about the Bulls. All he would have to tweet is "I love ISU and can't wait for next season." Period. The fact he won't do that says everything.
I think it is reasonable to assume you have a different perspective on life when you've had open heart surgery. You don't take any tomorrows for granted.
Fred doesnt seem like a guy who enjoys burning bridges.
The thing is, let's say he says no to Chicago....he'll be the Wolves coach in the next year or 2. How does ISU spin that to recruits? Almost best he goes now.
Meh maybe. There are agents and lawyers at play right now Im sure. Contracts and offers thrown around. Family opinions. There is a ton to take into consideration and it needs to be handled with respect to all parties. Fred doesnt seem like a guy who enjoys burning bridges.
If Fred leaves, this fanbase will not be happy with him. It doesn't matter what he says.

That all depends on the next coach. I'd hope we take the money we were paying CFH, add a percentage, and go after a big name that'd like to be in the top 3 paid coaches in the conference.

I don't take any tomorrow for granted. But I'd also be smart enough to know I don't need to make a hasty bad decision.

When Hoiberg leaves, people won't be mad, they will be disappointed.
How can he say that when the Bullz can't even put out an official contract for him? He might have an idea and some words from the Bullz about what they will give him but I don't deal in multi-million dollar contracts and I'm not biting on that even from an NBA franchise. No reason to burn that bridge right now. Fred still has time on his side here. Bowing down to impatient fans is about as stupid as taking a verbal agreement as a legally signed agreement to be the head coach of the Bullz.
Why would the players come back from out of state for a meeting to say the coach is leaving? For the 50th time, unless a meeting happened on Skype, none of the players are in Ames to have a team meeting. And once he tells the players, the news will leak quickly. Fred isn't telling the players until Thibs gets traded/fired. The Bulls can't make two head coaches at the same time.
If fans get angry at him for leaving, I don't want to be a Cyclone fan anymore. We can be sad, but no need to dislike the guy for pursing his dream and bringing ISU basketball back on the map. Will it stay there? That's the part we can all panic about.

You're missing the point. If he wanted to stay at ISU, it wouldn't matter what the Bulls are doing--he could say that right now. That would not be "burning bridges" in any sense. But not saying anything right now, even after his AD has said he "hopes" Fred is here next season? Pretty clear the bridge to ISU is already on fire, the fans are dialing 911 and Fred refuses to douse the flames.
