I agree with the people who say we need to make sure the style of play stays the same. I think our style of play alone attracts a lot of our recruits. If TJ would run a similar offense I don't mind giving him a try.

I just realized that Applebee's wouldn't have to change too much if we hired T.J...so there's that

I don't even see it as an either/or. He can do both. Come back next year, see if you can take this program to an unprecedented place, and then go to the NBA. I won't fault him if he leaves after next season. If he takes us to a Final Four next season and then rides off to the NBA, he has solidified his legend status.
It's better for the Bulls and for ISU if this coaching change doesn't occur for another year.

I for one will feel way more comfortable if he leaves the next coach with the team we have now vs the team were gonna have next year. Sets up whoever the next guy is for a much better chance at success compared to coming in with half a roster filled.

I remember Craig Brackins.....who I thought underachieved at ISU. Rated a 5 star. And I remember Melvin Ejim and Diante Garrett who didn't really develop until the arrival of Hoiberg. And those 2 guys were not that highly ranked. Name all the other great recruits that Otz got for Mac.

Were you a fan back then? Every single player of note we had in that era was TJ's. Mike Taylor, Wes Johnson, Justin Hamilton along with the 2 you mentioned.

Finally Keith Murphy is stepping up with some actual info. Said Fred has been contacted by Bulls, Magic, T-Wolves and Pelicans about coaching. Also, door is not shut on ISU. Some other tweets as well with some nuggets. Probably doesn't matter, but I hope we are throwing every bit of money we can at him.

If I name them will you not intentionally ignore them like you're doing now?

Here nor there
Is it? Where are the results on the recruiting trail with even more success on the court? How was he able to bring in the great players he did with Mac as HC?

I don't know how good he will be as a HC but to diminish his recruiting chops is ridiculous. Look at what he did at Washington.

Wasn't UW's class mostly instate kids?
TJ couldn't even get a Horizon Conference gig right now.

Hearing rumors in the ad office today. Jamie did not go on tour today to meet with Hoiberg. So I think we will probably hear something in the next day or so.

Hard to believe that Ejim didn't develop under McDermott, since he only played for Hoiberg.

Yes, he committed under McD, but his freshman year was Fred's first year. I guess McDermott could have done a better job with Ejim's final year at Brewster, though.

I thought they changed that rule, the Bob Huggins Rule. If Hornacek were to come to ISU he could not be in contact with recruits until he is on the staff. So not sure how well that works.

Ask Bruce Pearl, Otz and Mann recruit for Horny, sell having the current Suns coach as your coach. Could work really well.

So does this mean we can blame Ejim's "rock" hands on McD? Should've worked with him on that while he was at Brewster :jimlad:

We've survived as a family fanbase for a long time, through terrible teams, terrible coaches, no money, crappy stadiums, crappy facilities but this....this could be what brings the whole thing crashing down. It's going to be Hatfield's vs. McCoys from now on unless Fred comes back. And this isn't just for basketball this is going to ripple through everything.

Actual info? None of his "info" is anything we don't already know or assume. It's news that NBA teams without coaches have contacted him? No WAY! And he's not for sure leaving? I thought he'd already resigned?

Hoiberg is definitely gone to the Bulls.....or the T-Woves....or the Pelicans...or the Magic.....or he'll be back next year. You heard it here first.

The ripple could be so great that the universe could actually cease to exist.
