So already this morning we have two very conflicting "new" stories: FH already packed up his Sukup office and TJO's friend says FH will be here 2-3 more years.
Welcome to the Cyclone Fanatic offseason while Fred is coach.

I get this is what they WANT to do, but NBA teams have to be smarter than this. Why should the Pelicans try to trade for Thibs and lose a 1st round pick. They have to know he is fired no matter what. Call their bluff and when he gets fired then go after him.

Yes, I know this. The Bulls need to realize it is either keep Thibs or fire him. What you said above is the least likely of the three options but it is the one the Bulls are shooting for right now (I assume).

CF is going REALLY slow for me this morning. This could be due to a few things:

1. Somewhere in one of the threads, someone has broken actual news and the panic/celebration has begun

2. All CFer's are finally up this morning

3. The gals at work here have started to stream their soap operas.

I had a nightmare last night where I stopped checking the current threads because I was getting tired of no real news. Someone actually posted real news that Fred was leaving in one of these threads and I did not find out about it until I heard it on the radio on my home from work. Panic ensued and I ended up in the ditch crying.

Was going to post a Fight Club video, but realized it won't be CF friendly.

I would say just go for it. If Hoiberg leaves for the NBA the world as we know it will end and nobody will care. If Hoiberg stays at ISU there will be total chaos on this board in celebration and again... nobody will care.

"Tom Thibodeau is still the head coach of the Chicago Bulls despite the near universal conclusion that he won’t be come training camp 2015. A source close to the team says even though “the horse is out of the barn” Thibodeau would be willing to return to the Bulls under “the right circumstances.” Thibodeau still loves Chicago, has a great rapport with Derrick Rose and believes the Bulls are capable of challenging for a championship next season. The source says that Thibodeau would be open to a mea culpa meeting where both sides come to an understanding but believes “that will never happen.”"

If you were Thibs and with the bad blood between him and the front office, would you agree to a trade no matter where it was? If I were him, I'd do everything I could to stick it in their craw. I suppose he could be "blackballed" by owners, but he really seems to be too good of a coach to have that happen. I'd make sure I got every cent coming to me and I'd make sure the Bulls paid it. If I had 9 million bucks coming to me over the next two years, I'm not all that concerned about making sure I land a new job right away.

Okay. My hope is gone.

Buddy texted me that Freds office in Sukup is being packed up in boxes.

Also at grocery store and overhead video guy talking they recut the ISU admissions video to include Fred but then was told they weren't going to use it.

Feel like going home and crawling in bed. This is WAY worse than Cael. I hope Fred and the family are happy wherever they go but I am sorry I cannot root for your teams Feed. At least not yet.. Thanks for bringing back the magic. I hope we can keep it around after you.

Is this your buddy?

I just talked with a family friend of Otz and he said the feeling he was getting from Otz was Hoiberg will be around another 2-3 years.

I hope that your "source" is right. I will say that it contradicts what I was told about a week ago by someone who is legitimately connected with Otz. They did not tell me verbatim what Otz said and I did not ask, but what was stated was "it doesn't look good". I did get the impression though that nothing was sealed in stone but it looked dim. Things change on a dime and things can be very fluid, so, TIFWIW.

In regards to the Fred will be here 2-3 more years post, I'm not sure I really want that. If you set a time period like that, how will you recruit? Coaches will just tell recruits he will be gone to the NBA before you graduate. They will use what is happening right now as an example of what will happen every offseason.

If Fred is going to stay, he needs to come out and say he is staying in Ames long term if he wants any chance of landing good HS recruits.

Remember in 2004 Coach K was thinking about leaving Duke for the Lakers. K decided to stay and came out very strong that he wasn't ever leaving Duke for the NBA.

Why this is different.

i've read a lot of opinions stating that, as fans, we should accept Fred's job change and not be upset about it. Everyone can have their opinion and this is mine. Agree or not, I don't like that Fred leaves.

As fans, we have waited for a LONG time for ISU to be relevant in the national scene in athletics. We currently are in some sports, but basketball is the obvious number one sport. We have lost in state athletes to other schools before, most recently/painfully Ames High's own Harrison Barnes, and coaches have left for "better" jobs. We have been lied to by the chiz, but understood because he wasn't "one of us from Iowa" etc.

What makes this difficult for me is Fred is both, elite talent as a player and elite coach, from Ames. Ballboy, Johnny Orr disciplie, The Mayor, etc...He has made known how much he says ISU means to him, and we (I) believe(d) him. He was given a chance to coach by Jamie.

"Our own" may decide/has decided to leave us to go to the NBA after giving the hope of "dream job...retire here...championships...best fans in the country..." We are totally invested in Fred and have almost a family feel toward him and his family since he has been open about his family on twitter and media photos. He IS IOWA STATE and has used this job as a stepping stone. Like going out with a decent looking girl to get to the super hot one who will- who isnt worth it.

I hope he stays, but don't feel that he will. That would truly be the ultimate "iowa state kick in the nuts". Finish what you started Fred.

If there is no announcement either way by Fri at 5pm, my head is gonna explode. I'm at the point of saying, 'just stick a fork in it and be over with'.....anybody else with same sentiment?

Don't disagree with your post, but I wouldn't count these words ever passing CFH lips.

I don't know who said it but if you're a good coach not named Coach K or Roy Williams this is how it is. When you get paid millions of dollars or 6 figures for assistants part of that is figuring out things that are hard.
