If there is no announcement either way by Fri at 5pm, my head is gonna explode. I'm at the point of saying, 'just stick a fork in it and be over with'.....anybody else with same sentiment?

Hell no. This is frustrating but also exciting. Welcome to big time CBB.

Re: Why this is different.

IF we can start a new thread every hour and ensure someone tweets teh link to Fred, maybe he will see we want him to stay and care.

Re: Why this is different.

We're the only college team in the country Fred would ever coach. Give him credit for that.

But we're not an NBA team. And he's an NBA man.

If Fred is going to stay, he needs to come out and say he is staying in Ames long term if he wants any chance of landing good HS recruits.

Again, that won't happen and won't matter. Fred has made statements in the past about staying and it didn't matter. The ONLY thing which will matter is to have the low NBA buy-out clause greatly increased in his next contract negotiation. Otherwise as long as it's pathetically low, anything Fred says will be merely lip service.

I'd honestly be okay if he said "The NBA is my dream and I will be there someday but for now I have goals and dreams I want to accomplish at ISU"

I get this is what they WANT to do, but NBA teams have to be smarter than this. Why should the Pelicans try to trade for Thibs and lose a 1st round pick. They have to know he is fired no matter what. Call their bluff and when he gets fired then go after him.

The Bulls management isn't exactly the smartest collection of folks ever.

Exhibit A. Mr. Rose... your franchise player likes Thibs and wants him to remain as the head coach. Irritating your franchise player... not the smartest thing to do.

Exhibit B. Thibs has the 2nd highest winning percentage in playoff games in franchise history, he has coached the 2nd most playoff games in franchise history, he has the 2nd highest regular season winning percentage in franchise history, he has the 2nd highest overall (reg season & playoffs) winning percentage in franchise history, and he is 3rd in career wins with the franchise and he has only been in Chicago since 2010. They want to get rid of this guy?

Exhibit C. They have made it crystal clear that they want to get rid of this guy. Everyone knows what they are trying to do so if any NBA franchise wants Thibs they just have to wait the Bulls out since they have already tipped their hand.

Now if I was a coach and I look at what Thibs has done in Chicago considering that his franchise player Rose has only played about 50% of the games because he is constantly injured why would I want to go there? Thibs is easily the 2nd best coach in Bulls history based on his results and they can't wait to get rid of him. How foolish do the Bulls look right now?

Don't disagree with your post, but I wouldn't count these words ever passing CFH lips.

I don't think he needs to say never. But he needs to make it seem like he'll be here a while and there shouldn't be an immediate panic.

I don't know who said it but if you're a good coach not named Coach K or Roy Williams this is how it is. When you get paid millions of dollars or 6 figures for assistants part of that is figuring out things that are hard.

That's very true. But even when you are linked to jobs because a NBA team is interested in your, just have it leaked you aren't interested. His name will always get thrown around, but denying any mutual interest.

Again, that won't happen and won't matter. Fred has made statements in the past about staying and it didn't matter. I guess in my head I was thinking that. Have a 5 million dollar NBA buyout. Something high like that.

Yes it is.

This is a classic example mass hysteria. The genesis of this is some tweets from various twats around the country. Rumors, secret sources, pool boys, etc etc. This should be studied in universities in the future.

It appears that journalism schools are teaching that tweets should be the number on source of information.

I have no idea if FH is staying or going. I live in South America. I think I will go out in the streets here to see if I can find an impeccable source like some people here seem to have.

Thats the risk the Pelicans would have to take. However, if the Pelicans do call their bluff, they run the risk that the Bulls stand pat, or that the Bulls trade him to another team and the Pelicans don't get their guy.

Or, how about this scenario. Fred is contemplating going to the NBA, but really wants to make a national championship run at Iowa State. Fred tells the Bulls this and the Bulls decide to keep Thibs for one more year knowing that the coach they covet will be around next summer.

I look at 90% of NBA teams and think that. College is about the coaches first and players second. The best players are here for a year (one and dones) and the coach gets all the credit for FF banners and Championships.

Look at KU...when you think of KU your first thought is "Self is unstoppable". You don't really think of the 15-20 stud players that have gone thru there in 10 years*. *Exception noted for Perry Ellis who has been there that entire 10 yr span.

And when the Bulls job opens and if he decides to stay I fully expect that to happen. Nothing is happening until the Bulls job opens. He'll probably tack on an apology and let us know he has personal friends in the Bullz org and knows and respects Thibs and didn't feel it was appropriate to comment, even vaguely, on the situation.

Of course you'd be happy if he said that. We'd all be happy if he said that. However, the only logical explanation right now is that Fred hasn't made a decision 100% on whether is is going or staying.

If he knows he is going, he's a **** for being so tight lipped and at least would let things slip out so that the school, players, coaches, etc could start be prepared.

If he knows he is staying, he's a **** for not coming out saying that he is staying.

I don't think Fred is a ****, so the only logical explanation is that he hasn't made a decision yet.
