All in. I'll take the risk of bust. Give me a motivated Hoiberg and this team, one year, for all the money.

Not happening.

I don't much inside info.

The last time I hear inside information it was that Jake was playing his last game. And he did.

The other coaches would be like sharks on blood more than they already are. 2015-16 will be like Tom Cruise's last charge in "The Last Samurai." Beautiful, but in the end, the end.

A FF run could ease that quite a bit. Go all in on next year if that's the scenario that plays out. These teams are rare, have to do everything they can to take advantage of it.

Give me one example of going "all in" ever working out for ISU?

Just waiting for the All In posters to come out next year from the athletic department with a big picture of a cardinal and gold nut cup.

I occasionally hear rumors on the athletic front since I have a few family members that work at ISU, I rarely post them but thought it was interesting I heard the same thing that Jeremy did. Don't kill the messenger!

I knew this one guy that claimed Charlie Weiss and Mangino were interviewing for the Nebraska job. He also posted another crazy rumor about Kirk Ferentz. I'll try to figure out which poster that was that didn't know ****.

So you essentially heard tonight that we're just in a holding pattern for the Bulls to get a decent pick for Thibs, and that Fred is Chicago bound?

Edit: I think the tone of my post could be misinterpreted as sarcasm. It's not. You obviously heard something between 9:18pm and 9:32pm tonight. Just trying to clarify exactly what your source suggested.

That hasn't been the rumor for a few weeks. This new info is gold.

Recruiting for HS kids is screwed either way until 2017.

No HS kids are signing up for 4 years with Fred out the door and they're going to want to see how TJ does before jumping on his bandwagon. He simply doesn't have enough time to build the bonds that he will need for 2016 kids as they are cutting their lists now and will be committing in the next 4 months for the most part.

Next year we have some holes in our front court so maybe we can fill in with a juco or two. Hopefully they don't change the grad transfer rules before next year.

The advantages of Fred staying one more year are we can capitalize on next year's roster and we have more time to hire a better coach.

oh, I know he is gone. My comment was in regards to the debate that if he came back for one year only would it be worth it.

Put me in the boat of being happy with Fred staying one more year and then bolting, rather than bolting right now.
If we make the Final Four (heck, I'd even settle for the Elite 8 if you guaranteed it to me right now) for a couple of down years, then I'm ok with that. However, if Fred leaves now and we lose in the 2nd or 3rd round with one of ISU's best teams, then there's going to be a lot of "what could have been", followed by a down year or two anyways. We don't get this chance often, might as well go for broke.

Only way that strategy works, IMO, is if they plan on hiring Otz, and just announce him as Hoiberg's eventual successor. Otherwise our recruiting would take a nose dive. And even if we do that it could still take a nose dive.

Unless we announce Hornacek as the 2016 head coach and Otz as associate HC that will stay on. He had just 1 year left on his contract. That way we don't have to buy him out. Could be good.recruiting for a coach currently in the NBA.

Just to make sure I get you, you're saying announce Hornacek as the 16-17 coach in 15-16? If so, no way that happens, and no way Hornacek would ever agree to that.

I don't see Hornacek wanting to be a college coach, but who knows. I don't know how the option on his contract impacts his availability. Can we get his daughter signed to a lucrative tv deal too? :D

Unfortunately it's best for the program LONG TERM that Fred leave this year and we HOPEFULLY have a **** load of success under our new head coach.
