I'd be more concerned about the serial killer handwriting of your builders.

nah, I'm pretty sure it's the trim guy who is really nice and hasn't killed me yet when I've stopped in and he's still working. He was there last Saturday leaving and was like ok I'll leave the garage open longer and you guys can shut it then. They still had a lot of tools in there at that point and couldn't leave it open when they weren't there. He said he had tried trapping one parent inside but she had gotten smart and flew out when she saw him coming.

DH and I then tried that and sure enough, she was quick. We did get her trapped but it seemed to stress her out quite a bit so we let her out. Seems like they survived though and now the door can stay cracked so hopefully they'll be ok now.

I mean, the guy is trying to save baby robins, can't be too bad.

I do see his notes all over - scrap pieces of cardboard, invoices, scraps of wood - I'm like someone get this man some post it notes!

I like the builder too but this is actually their trim guy. Much of the work is contracted out but they always try to work with this guy to do trim. We actually met him touring a house with the builder last year. He said how great the builder is to work with and then our builder joked about having paid for him to say that.

But yeah, trim guy is really nice. All the people who we've met have been, but I really like this guy.

hey, you try writing on a box with two inch long pencil. I'm pretty sure it's not even a real pencil, it's one of those little ones construction guys always have.


That note still makes me laugh "very stupid bird built a nest and had babies" just cracks me up.

It is a relay. So it's supposed be 2 or so miles at a time then wait for four more people to run. Then at the end of the leg they get to rest while the other half of the team runs.

Should be pretty easy if they pace themselves. 9-11 minute miles.

I think he's crazy wanting to run the DSM Marathon. I'm glad he's doing something fun though. It's good to have a break from dissertation stuff.

So some guy totes brokers his ankle or tibia/fibia at softball. He slid and his foot went a different way than his leg. 1st time I ever heard a bone break on something.

Maybe I'll feel differently in the future, but I've liked having someone to share my life with. Going to be behind you on kids though. BFF's parents are late 40's (got to be about 50 by now) with four young grandkids. They are able to go on vacation and be very active with one kid left in high school. That doesn't sound so bad to be mostly done by mid-40s. Guess we're trying to split the difference of having pre-kid time/activities together and still be fairly young when kids are pretty independent.

PapaLew & I were 45 & 44 when the youngest of our kids graduated HS. I have to tell you, it was nice to be able to do things WE wanted to do finally, after all of the years of schlepping around central Iowa for the kids.

Flip side - we have several sets of friends who "had their fun" first, then had kids, and they strongly advocate for that option.

I think the upside for us was the grandkid aspect. I'm just now getting to the point where I struggle to pick the smallest ones up...but any of them can climb on my lap. Those friends are just now getting grandkids in their 60s.
