Best friends little sister just asked if we had any spare bedrooms available for her to move into while student teaching...

Was anyone here not allowed to throw their cap at high school graduation? It's the seniors last day in my town so I though of this. It has been a rule at my high school for as long as I have lived in town (almost 10 years). Only school in the area that won't allow it. I'm sure there are others out there.

It's probably our fault. My class was the last one at my school that was allowed to throw their caps. One of the girls in our class caught a corner in her eye and I believe had to have surgery or something relatively serious. They put the kabosh on it after that.

Iowa City area
Was that the year it flooded out so badly over there?

Yeah...all of eastern Iowa too (although, obvs, being the largest city, CR was the worst from a sheer destruction standpoint. It was surreal for the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids commute, if you were on the wrong side of the Cedar or the Iowa rivers, unless you knew a very few little backroads, you were stuck unless you wanted to drive an hour each way to get around. Thankfully, at the time, I lived/worked in between the Iowa and Cedar, so I was fine, Mrs. got a few days off work due to not being able to get across the Iowa.

It still amazes me driving through CR, Palo and Vinton at how high it got. We have the Epic Surge book and DVD that KCRG made.

We had a "morale building" happy hour for work last night. Safe to say morale was not built. One of our newer people skipped it on purpose (she was the smart one), we forgot to invite one of our interns, and another one of our newer people says he's never going to happy hour again.

Yeah, I hear the Denver office is lame.

I think you're doing happy hour wrong? Was it a dry event and you had to pay for your own food?

During my friend's first time, he decided to play some music and put his iPod on shuffle. Part way through, Lonely Island's "I just had sex" came on. The girl was not amused.

How can you not be amused by that? I'd just laugh and keep going.

Since we like talking about food in this thread, and it's random...

Here's what my wedding cake should look like this weekend!

I know what you mean...
I live to the east of Ames...when the Skunk river & Squaw creek flood, I might as well stay home. Especially if the Skunk goes over both hwy 30 & I-35.
