It's weird how Hoiberg reveres the Bulls, and when I saw the GarPax "yea we just fired Thibs and we don't have a list of replacements" press conference, all I could think was "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Not to mention that Donald Sterling and Reisdorf were best friends....until....Reisdorf publically denounced him and supported Silver....which friends do u think Sterling was talking about in that tape?....more like a cesspool than a hive....

Fred could pee on my dog all he wants. I would watch, and then shake his hand BEFORE he washed it. Fred will always be a god to me. ALWAYS.

That being said, I agree with everything you said. The people who are so mad at Fred they are completely ignoring everything he accomplished here and are ignoring how he left this program need to be slapped in the face a few times.

Yeah. I think a lot of people are thinking entirely with their emotions, and using zero logic.

He might as well have peed on my dog. That would actually be a lot better than losing him as basketball coach at ISU.

And yes, Fred made a BUSINESS decision. You are exactly right. That's what hurts. BUSINESS trumped loyalty to school in this. That's what hurts.

I think we all hoped Fred was "different". That he loved Iowa State more than anything and wouldn't dump us like a Gene Chizik did. But nope, in the end he wasn't any different. That's what hurts.

He didn't dump us like Gene Chizik did. He didn't crap out two terrible seasons, tell us he was firmly entrenched, and then leave the next week while trying to poach players.

Fred was open from the beginning about his aspirations. He built us up to a much better place than we were before he got here, was honest with recruits and players that he couldn't commit to being here next year, and then moved on at a time that was practical for him. He had a nice press conference in which he pronounced his love for ISU, and he didn't bail for a potential competitor.

If there's a wave of people urinating on dogs this weekend I'll know why now...

I'm gonna go ahead and take preemptive credit for this. You're all welcome.

If you guys come by Bondurant tonight, I'll **** all over every one of your dogs. I'm not the Mayor but I've been drinking a crap ton of water today and have plenty of water in the old radiator.

I skipped directly to this post, and out of context, it is pretty weird.

I would hope that all of his boys are happy with this decision, and Carol too, but I'm getting strong vibes that they are not all that thrilled with it.

Sure, they are going to support their husband/Dad and his lifelong dream of coaching at the highest level, but that doesn't mean they have to like that decision. I think his boys really like living around Ames and their grandparents too.

I just hope it all works out well for Fred and his family. I hope in this case that the grass is actually greener on the the other side. I just have my doubts.

There is no way you posted this with a strait face. Vibes?! I can't stop laughing at this insanely hilarious/idiotic post.

Are you sure it's only been water you've been drinking?

Lol....nope. I know what you're trying for here ("always dreams of coaching NBA") but nope. That narrative never existed until last month when JP said it trying to do some serious CYA for the upcoming Fred bolts for NBA now we have to search for a new coach debacle.

My dog better watch his ***. Revenge is in the air!

Only part of my devious urine plan that I need to figure out is who cleans the dog after I go all whizzinator on him.

Cleaning my own urine off of the dog takes all if the fun out of it

To all you **** holes that got mad at me, threatened me, and called me names after I said Fred Hoiberg and Minnesota were talking and that Minnesota had offered the job to him.

It took three years, but...

Suck it.

Talking and getting an offer didn't mean he'd accept it. We all knew there were discussions. Most of us weren't worried about them as it was a lateral move with the promise to give him things he already had in Ames. Heck, a lot of UM fanbase thought there was no chance in getting Hoiberg.

I've had several times companies or managers of other internal departments want to talk to me about career opportunities. These were jobs I wasn't too interested, however, I listened as a professional curtesy and to validate my thoughts about them or to see if their offer was too good to pass up. Some people (unfortunately I didn't) in similar situations leverage those meetings for extra pay/benefits with their current position. Some of these could have been applicable to Fred. It doesn't necessarily mean the interviewee has great interest or in danger of leaving. Furthermore, just because there is an offer to an interviewee, it doesn't mean it'll be accepted. I've turned down jobs before.

I think people were mainly harsh at those who were actually nervous about Fred leaving for UM.

I agree that narrative wasn't disclosed by Fred, JP, ISU, etc to the public other than Fred's low buyout to an NBA team clause in his contract. However in an article released this week, Reggie Miller said that Fred talked to him about getting back to the NBA a few years ago. So privately he told NBA friends.

Yeah, talking about that publicly would have been stupid, as it would have been like shooting a hole in the bottom of your own boat as far as recruiting went.

There are plenty of articles and a buyout that disagree with you. Here's one from 2014:

Pollard: "He wanted to send a message to people that he's not going to another college. If he were to leave, it'd be to the NBA, and that's a decision he may or may not make in his lifetime. He's got a long time to think about that."

For the bitter folks - Did any of you think that maybe he just doesn't enjoy coaching college ball as much as he thought he would?

Or as much as WE thought he SHOULD?

He's a basketball coach like all the other basketball coaches. Some stay, most leave. Glad to have him but in the end he is just another in a long line of basketball coaches looking to make his mark and earn a few bucks along the way.
