Chiz was a "home run" by all accounts...the HOTTEST assistant coach out there. When JP got him to ISU it was considered a huge coop.

McDermott was well regarded and up for several other D1 P5 jobs as well. In retrospect his coaching doesn't work as well with P5 talent...he really needs guys that are less talented and more dedicated to run his highly controlled offense and program. But I think many (rightfully so) thought WM had run such a loose ship that a strong coach was attractive. WM played streetball...Greg never meet an offense that didn't have 1000 precision executed plays that was worth running.

Ironically I was pro Chizik...anti McD because I thought he was a closet hawk (that was always the rumor that he really wanted the Iowa job...hell I remember joking with a buddy "great he can put his 'Gary Wright: Sir Jams a Lot' poster up in his office...that'll be cool". I was also not sold on Fred only because I was afraid of how bad it would be if he didn't cut it and we had to fire one of the all time fan favorites and hometown hero's.

Awesome that potential coaching has flowed over to a potential recruit thread.

Seems a tad cocky..

“They say I’d fit in really well (at ISU),â€￾ he said. “They’ll run their offense around me every play.â€￾ - See more at: http://amestrib.com/hines-hoops/catching-miles-bridges-16-mi#sthash.lTCz9V5v.dpuf

Anyways.. want!

Maybe Fred renegotiates a deal with huge NBA buyout and says he'll stay for a while and he comes... This could be a blessing in disguise!

.....or not. Who knows.

Devils advocate here, but, have you seen him play? After we lose Niang, duh, ya, we'd run our offense around him.

I think it will depend on the year. Monte could talk up this situation. We could keep Mann. Monte could decide to return his senior year.

Not saying we are landing him, but I wouldn't be shocked if we did.

I still think our best chance is if Grayer somehow scored an Asst Coach position under Prohm, but that's probably a long shot at this point.

As much as I would like it, I agree, long shot. If Grayer did somehow join the staff, almost guarantees he comes here IMO.

No chance if Cornell is gone. If we keep Cornell and for some reason add Grayer to the staff (I doubt Grayer is even on Prohm's radar) then we could get him.

Gotta think we're among the leaders for this kid, if not "in the lead".

Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina and Michigan State are after him. Good luck with that Coach Prohm.

God please don't let him have some type of older male father/brother/uncle type figure who is all about "what's best for Miles" :swoon:

chuckle-just being facetiously optimistic....I don't see any chance there either

While I would say the odds are against us, lets give Prohm a chance to sell ISU to the kid. A lot of unknowns at this point; if Monte decides to stay for his senior season I'd say we have a decent shot.

How many were on his list before he cut it? I thought for sure that it was already 8. But I'm happy we are still on it. It's highly unlikely since it sounds like Mann is looking to leave and Monte said today that 'if the opportunity presented itself' he'll leave next year.

But Prohm has a chance to at least build a relationship with him.

I think we all have to remind ourselves that we can't hang a coaching hire on a recruit or two when you never know whether you'll get them anyway. Hopefully for every recruit we're losing interest from due to the Hoiberg departure, we're gaining somebody from the southeast where Prohm has recruited.
