Gotta figure $250-275k for Small and $300-325k+ for Chew right?

I think $325k for Chew sounds right, VTech would probably give him a raise to try to retain him.

As for Small, Prohm was only making $500k so I'm not sure we'd need to spend that much. I highly doubt Small was making as much as Charlie was last year and he has the chance to move with Prohm to a top 10 team in a P5. Probably could get him for $200k or less.

If they pay Small 200k plus that's a problem bc no way he is making close to that at Murray State

I'd like to see TJ for continuity, that Va Tech guy because he sounds dynamic, pay em the same rate and get the Smalls guy for knowing Prohm's system and it sounds like he's a good teacher. So maybe $325,000 each plus $175-$200k for Smalls? I know, I am good at spending money that isn't mine!

The most likely scenario seems to be:

Small
+
Mann or Otzelberger
+
Chew or Fuller

I think Mann is a little under valued by some, he did quite a bit of game planning and player development under Fred. Plus he's the only known candidate that coached against the Big 12 rosters last year and is the lead recruiter for Miles Bridges.

Yes please

I would guess this is probably the most likely scenario along with keeping Micah Byers in the Dir of Basketball Ops role as well.

I'll go on record saying i don't care what assistants are hired. I stated that I didn't care what head coach was hired and the guys being paid to make that decision seemed to have done fine. I'll go the same route with the assistants. I'll leave it to the pros and assume they know more about this than I do.

I'll also go on record that I'm smarter than at least 2 people in this thread.

Well it seems Leath's premise was that he needs to be involved because the decision involved a top 2 or 3 paid public employee, but the hiring of probably 3 of the top 10-15ish? paid public employees doesn't need his intervention? When you add the assistants salaries together it probably puts the total in the top 10 salaries of the state. I would think he would want to be in on that as well.

That's a fair point, and the only conclusion I can draw is that Leath didn't trust Pollard on the hire, but he trusts Prohm to hire his own staff.

I bet Small could be had at a Charlie Henry-type price. In that case break out the big bucks for someone like Chew.

It'll be interesting to see this shake out.

Part of me would love to see us keep Mann and TJ for one year, so the current guys that they're already close with/recruited keep some continuity, and then ride off into the sunset. Assuming that's what the players want.

The other part of me doesn't want another potential "lameduck" season if the assistants are not all in on the recruiting trail, but rather trying to position themselves for other potential HC jobs.

Rip the band aid off. Clean house. Get two high level recruiters and bring in a 3rd guy Prohm trusts and knows his scheme/regimen. Let's move forward for the long term. This team will adapt and persevere.

No no lame duck assistants. Mann was leaving anyway, and so was Charlie.
