I do think 4 wins would be enough for CPR to coach again IF the 4th win is a Texas, Oklahoma or any top 25 Big XII team. 3 wins or less and he's likely out. I can't see us winning more than 5 games this year, I just don't see it but really want to keep my expectations low.

Worst case:
2 wins, 1 OOC win, with another being KU(Yeah, they are going to be baaaaddd this year). We somehow lose to two of UNI, Iowa, or Toledo, and don't win a conference game outside of KU. Ouch.

Best Case:
6 wins,

Starting out 5-0 after an undefeated non-con and taking care of KU and Tech, ISU rolls into Jack Trice with confidence riding high... only to get summarily stomped by TCU, Baylor, Texas, and OU 4 games in a row. They bounce back to become bowl eligible after a hard fought win against OSU, and lose the last two on the road.

I'd put the O/U on victories at around 4, could be as low as 2, as high as 6. If Rhoads can somehow win 2-3 B12 games and keep the blowouts to a minimum and show progress I think he sticks around. If we somehow lose to an FCS team again in the season opener, things could get ugly really quickly for Rhoads and the team.

3-9. I see Kansas, Iowa, Toledo, and UNI as our best options for those 3 but we won't win all 4.

1-11. Win over Toledo.

ISU finished 128th out of 128 teams in total defense and lost like 6 senior starters. They will somehow get worse. The offense lost the one player in Farniok who kept it together and the offense was still horrible overall. The WR's are the only unit on the whole team that is even average by Big 12 standards and their success is totally predicated on a QB who has never won a Big 12 game. This will be one of the worst teams in ISU history, which is really quite the accomplishment.

Too depressing to be the last post of this thread.

Step one is to defeat the mighty panthers. If/when that happens, then the rest of the season becomes thinkable.

2-10 Overall, 1-8 Conference

My exact prediction above. At 2-10, Jamie still doesn't want to fire Rhoads and eventually gets strong-armed by President Leath. New coach for 2016.

I'm saying 3-9 with wins over Kansas, Toldeo, and one of the in state schools. My original pick was 2-10 but Kansas lost their leading rusher so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt

“More of then than not, the team with the best players is going to win,” the great Cyclone legend Johnny Orr once said. That translates to about four wins max unless CPR gets us playing with anger and pride.

4-8. 8 game losing streak.

No new coach as Jamie jumps the gun and gives Rhoads a lifetime contract after a 4-0 start. :jimlad:

I'll make a thread a week or two before the season starts. Too much can happen from now until UNI.

I prefer to look at it the same way each season: Which games do we have a fighting chance at winning?

This year we have a fighting chance at beating
UNI
Iowa
Toledo
Kansas
Texas Tech
Texas
Oklahoma State
Kansas State
West Virginia

None of those teams are going to be all that great. OSU will probably be the best, but they're relying on a new QB and the game is at home late in the year. How many will we win? I have no idea. Maybe none. We could honestly go 0-12. But I never look at it like that. I don't buy tickets to and watch games of a team I have no hope for.

Do you smoke crack before you post? We have a chance against Toledo, UNI, KU, and Iowa because Ferrets will dribble it down his leg. The Big 12 will drill us a new one again.

Agree. Let's get this over with and move on to hiring a new coach. Even if we win squeak out 5 or 6 wins next year, I think recruiting has been so dismal that we'll fall right back into the abyss of our last two seasons of futility.
