Rumor has been that they domesticated the raptors in this film. They are essentially reprogrammed to work with humans...because of the past issues.
If true then that has got to be just about the dumbest idea ever

I love me some JP, so I'm just gonna ignore the whole, "lol guys so this one old dude tried this thing one time, and it didn't turn out super great because some of his genetic creations *may* have caused a bit of a ruckus and devoured a few peeps. BUT we've totally got all that sorted out and we GUARANTEE that nothing bad at all will happen this time because we're smart and we've learned and OH GOD IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN HOW DID WE NOT SEE THAT COMING."

I grew up with Ray Harryhausen FX. Fun, but not very realistic. :)

Disagree. This is as real as it gets:

Took my boys to the original when it first came out. When the raptor jumped up after Lexi's dangling foot when they're crawling through the ducting at the end, EVERY person in that theater jumped...

My favorite memories were when Alan and Ellie see their first dinosaurs, and when Alan is laying with his head on the side of the trike, moving up and down as she breathed. The sheer wonder...

And back in '93, that was the most AMAZING technology. Younger folks who grew up with CGI have no idea how special it was for us seeing it...really, for the first time.

I watched Jurassic Park (in 3D) recently and it still holds up. Ok the effects aren't 100% as good as they seemed 20 years ago, but still pretty dang good

Those movies were awesome. I know people make fun of the Ray Harryhausen creatures, but what he did was truly amazing and groundbreaking. There is a documentary on him on Netflix that was truly fascinating. I recommend that to anyone interested in film making.

Back on topic, JP is an awesome movie and I watch it any time I can catch it on TV. I'll definitely be seeing this one at the theater.

I don't disagree...I'm a fan of his. However, kids raised on CGI seem to be a lot more nonchalant about the technology they have. Try to explain how animation was originally done (drawing each individual frame...). Their eyes glaze over. :)

Technology has made such amazing leaps in my lifetime.

For those who are saying why the hell are they building another dinosaur park 20 years later. InGen has a lot to make up for the massive initial investment in capital for the first movie. You can bet that if they have the technology to make another park after all the kinks have been worked out they would. The moral of the first movie and the entire first book can be summed up in one verse Malcolm says. "You were too preoccupied with whether you could, that you didn't stop to think if you should". I see it being the same way in this new film

As kids we loved this scene from Jason and the Argonauts

Anyone go see this movie last night? My gf has some gift cards to Wynsong and I kinda want to go see Jurassic World this weekend. The reviews on Rotten Tomatoes were underwhelmig so I figured I'd look for a some other opinions.

I heard it's not very good, but I'll probably see it just because it's a Jurassic Park movie.

Assuming it isn't very good as people are saying, why can't a revival of a sequel ever be any good? Here are a few off the top of my head that were pretty highly anticipated but ended up underwhelming/awful:

Jurassic World
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Chrystal Skull
Dumb and Dumber too
Anchorman 2

If Star Wars: The Force Awakens ends up sucking, I'm done going to revivals altogether.
