Just watched some film. A few things I like: a fairly quick jumper, very nice form on his free throws especially for a big guy, seems to move his feet well.

Count me as excited about finding a big this late in game. If he's a legit 6-9, which I doubt, I'm even more excited.

Best high jump mark I see is 6' 2", looking at Jr/Sr years. That's actually poor for a 6' 9" kid. A very good high school jumper can jump his height. An elite high school jumper will go 6" more than their height. I don't see 7" under height as something to get excited about.

Conversely, Wes Greder the walk-on from Gilbert jumping 6' 4" in a 6' 2?" body is more exciting.

He's not going to the ******* Olympics to high jump. Someone just pointed out that he is an athletic kid and proved it by posting his high jump marks, which are actually pretty impressive.

Most people just assume that a white post player from Iowa won't be very athletic, and his high jump PR says otherwise, which is why I'm glad someone found it. But that's really all the analysis needed from his HS track and field career.

You can spin it how you want but for a post player (6'8" or 6'9") that is pretty impressive. By your logic all 7-footers should jump 7'?

No, you don't. Who would you have liked to see them get? They need to replace Williams......I think that is given. If they don't replace him with someone......this team may not reach it's full potential, especially if there are injuries or foul trouble. Still waiting for you in your brilliance to tell us who you think ISU could have gotten.....I mean......you follow recruiting very closely you claim......so give us some available names that would have been better.

Love your persistence Dryburn!
And the continued silence is deafening ...

This is also what I want to know. Rhoadhoused has been persistent his opinion that we should have just banked the scholarship to give to a Juco or mid-year transfer. Ok then, that is fine. BUT WE HAVE 2/3 to give THIS year alone... not to mention the 5-7 next year. Jesus... I also want to know who he thinks we should have signed instead.

Why not bank every scholarship unless he's a top 50 guy by that logic. Fill the roster with top 50 guys. Sounds good to me.

I haven't seen a single person say they think he will be good. Just that its not a big deal to take a chance on him and maybe it'll work out. It's so stupid to rip the guy without knowing how good or bad he'll be. Completely pointless. The rational ones are taking a wait and see approach, since, you know, no one has seen him play.

Again, your critique of the analogy was way off. What js pointless or rational is irrelevant .

Vroman was drafted at the top of the second round in the NBA. I'd take that in a second, but I'll take a percentage of it here.

And by the time he was a senior Homan had developed into one of the best centers in the Big 12. Watching film Ernst looks like he will have a body more similar to Homan but at this point more athletic like Vroman. That would make a great combination and as long as he fully recovers from his injury, I'm somewhat excited about this kid.

I'd settle for him being as good as Alex Thompson or Ross Marsden.

I agree about Homan. I don't think anyone predicted how good he would be by his senior year. He looked like he really hit the gym and his game was very developed.

Why are we spending scholarships on guys we hope are serviceable in 3 years?

Because we need him to potentially fill spot minutes this year. You do get that it is June right, and that the coaching merry-go-round led to this. Could be a good get, could be a total bust. 2 to 3 scholarships open this year and then what 5 next. No risk here what so ever.

That settles it then.

But personally I disagree with spending a scholarship for a practice body and I disagree that we will just use him for one year and ship him out if he's not good. I think it's far more likely they don't intend to play him and nothing could make them get rid of him until at least his 3rd year.

And I'm very against just offering whoever Ben Jacobsen offers, I think that is exactly what I want to avoid. A lot of you seem to think otherwise, that's cool.

It's not a big deal. I do understand recruiting, I follow it very closely. I have a different opinion that I think is pretty valid, and I understand that having a different opinion makes a lot of you just assume that I am literally mentally handicapped because your opinions are so infallible.

I'm done arguing. I just think there were better uses for the scholarship going forward.

Most intelligent thing you've said on here. ******* in this kids cheerios post after post is very unnecessary.
