I would vote Cherokee cause there is absolutely nothing nearby. I have no idea what those people do for close entertainment.

Where's all the Council Tucky hate? Back in my day, the land of "Fat girls, black squirrels, and $100 dollar rides" totally would have been on this list.

I'm surprised my hometown of Mason City hasn't been mentioned by anyone. Usually that's one of the first places mentioned on this board when talking about **** holes in Iowa.

...it was a joke. NW Iowa is one of the worst places on the planet, unless you like living among hog confinements, filthy water, and towns that smell like **** year round.
Whoops, that went right over my head. A few places in NW Iowa would be okay, but I agree there are very few. That part of the state is shrinking at a pretty high rate.

Algona, Fort Dodge, Postville. Never been to Charles City but I was told it's rough.

Algona and Charles City? Lollerskates. Charles City has had some very recent section 8 housing issues, but that's about it. Algona is as typical of a Midwestern town as there is.

Fort Dodge is a **** hole, and as I said earlier should be on this list. Postville is a little run down, but it's not as bad as it's reputation, and passes the "eye test" much easier than most of it's southern counterparts. Postville 10-15 years ago was probably in that convo though. Since the raids, it's more typical rural Iowa.

Don't care. Just want to stay out of the social engineering capitol of Iowa. And the smell? Unshaven legs and armpits. Dope. KY jelly. Refuse from the Emma Goldman clinic. Got the picture? And Iowans flock there for football??!!

Are you off your meds again? CyKosys, we've talked about this...you are not going to get to go home if you keep cheeking your meds and flushing them down the toilet as soon as the nurse leaves.

Right?! They haven't been flocking there for football all too much for the last few years now.

Yeah, Algona is not rough in the slightest.

1. lol at crime rates in iowa
2. How is Sioux City, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown not being on the list versus a couple others.

Whats encouraging is how well Iowa rated. 2nd best. So living in a place like Webster City is like one of the safest places to be in the country.

Could you imagine putting up our #5 Webster City up against #5 in Texas, Florida, New York, Cali etc....perspective.

Looked pretty rough to me on a recent business trip there and looked a lot like the run-down river towns throughout Iowa. I expected a lot more I guess. Plus, the only thing open for lunch was a crappy mexican restaurant.

Oh wow, it's a miracle you made it out alive! Reminds me to pack some heat the next time I visit the Algoney...
