Here is a cool view from this morning. It is looking at the new south videoboard from 4th Street (just beyond the coaches parking lot by Bergstrom).

And here are some shots that show how the ticket turnstiles are likely to work on the south end. There are brown walls on the left and right, outside the sidewalk in front of the Sukup lounge entrance. I think the ticket turnstiles will extend from the left to the right wall. Once inside the turnstiles, you can go straight into the Sukup lounge (and Sukup Endzone Club seats) or go left or right and walk up sloping sidewalks to seating on the west or east sides. Also, check out the nifty red stripe lights. I can't wait to see them at night.

Since you were there, I'm curious how the parking lots there (S2, S3) were affected? We have been in S2 for the past several years and would tailgate on the grass next to the outer walkway which led to the West entrance. There used to be a fence there.

We figured we might lose our "preferred" spot in that lot due to the expansion but I haven't really seen what it looks like. If we do lose our spot we may be headed to our actual lot (B6 I think).

They'll hang cargo netting over the wall. It'll give everybody a safe way to exit the upper deck in case of a concrete fire on the stairs.

I think that the real answer is self evident. If they had added those rows, the additional 20, 40, 60, whatever seats would have meant that capacity didn't add up to an even 61,000. Hello? Just more neat and orderly that way.

Fat people can have more room up on top too. Heck, bring a portable grille and do some hotdogs. Maybe throw a rope over the top to haul up some brew during halftime blues.

Speaking of which, is there any idea of when an official capacity figure will be released? Obviously we'll get an attendance figure in 18 days :jiggy:

Since they are still dealing with SRO(hillside) tickets, guessing they just made it 61,000 for convenience sake. When we actually sell out a game then we'll know for sure, but I'm guessing even then, they'll probably be a little more conservative in the number of tickets they'll sell then until they see how the new SEZ operates.

From a physical perspective, S-2 and S-3 are still the same. They have used them as the area for the construction trailers, equipment, materials, and parking. But they are pretty much open now. I took these photos from outside the chain link fence or through the gate in the fence.

I thought about moving to S-4 when I had the opportunity this year, but chose not to do so because the field pumps send water through the grass between S-3 and S-4 to the drainage ditch along University. Not sure if the field pumps affect any other grassy areas.

Eventually, I think some of the S lots are going to be taken away for an extension of Reiman Gardens (remember them, they gave the big money to start the project), but it doesn't look like that is going to take place this year. It looks more like they have cleaned up the lots to use them for parking again.

Are the rails really illuminated red or is it just a reflection. That is sick if they actually light up like that!

The red stripes are real. They are lights affixed to the south side of some of the rails. I had heard about them, but didn't even notice them until I was reviewing the pictures. I can't wait to see them at night.

That is a major upgrade, looks like a power 5 stadium.
I agree. Drove by today and the view from the road by the Jake was so impressive. It doesn't even look the same anymore. The endzone looks "tall" to me now.

Honestly, I always assumed when we did the SEZ it would be almost a half assed attempt, with either a really low profile, no ribbon board, or just the lower deck with nothing on top. I never thought we'd get enough money to do it full out like we have and do it in a way that I think is really top notch.

It has definitely surpassed my expectations.

Yeah I never really understood why people thought we should do it that way.
