We aren't coming close to winning seasons now. Why not take a chance?
If this season doesn't turn around, then I agree with you. However, there is no benefit to firing him mid-season.

Who else are we going to beat except maybe Kansas? And.....we won't beat Kansas playing offense like we have the last 2 games.
Of course it happens in the real world, but we are talking specifically about ISU and JP. Outside of forcing DMac out the door, what exactly has he done to suggest he is capable of making those decisions? Trying to lock down under performing GMac? Standing by Rhoads after 2 horse **** seasons(years 5 and 6 no less)? I won't say he CAN'T do it, but nothing to me suggests he WOULD do it at the end of this season if it were warranted. Honestly, I like JP, I really do. This is just a gut feeling on my part from the sample of scenarios he has had in front of him.
The same thing was said about the JP/Otz relationship. I guess I don't see why so many people on here don't think it is possible for a boss and employee to have a friendship without it affecting the business side of things. It happens everyday in the real world business so why can't it exist in the ISU AD.
Remember when JP was going to give McDermott another chance? Remember the whole transfer press conference he had? JP has yet to fire any of his coaches he's hired, and i really don't see that changing anytime soon, it will essentially admit, yeah I really botched this hire, something I just can't see JP doing.
Or maybe in JP's analysis of the situation he can see positives that the random message board poster can't see. You guys make it seem like JP grew up with CPR, Otz, McD, etc and were life long friends before they were hired.
He has never once demonstrated he can do what needs to be done. Some want to believe JP is the all knowing AD God at ISU and some want to believe he is spineless. I fall somewhere in the middle.
As a side note, what would you say is a positive in the last 26 games?
I don't feel that JP is an AD God, but I do trust he will do his job.
I'm not getting into a debate on whether CPR stays or goes because thats not my job, my job as a fan is to support my team to the best of my ability.
Respectfully I will say that supporting the players and the team is still completely possible while questioning the direction of the staff. I very rarely criticize the kids, but talking about the staff is not being a bad fan or not supporting the team.
You mentioned that he can see some positives that we can't. I'm curious about what positive takes we should be seeing. That to me is not the same as supporting/criticizing CPR/staff. Maybe this is not the thread for it, but I would love to hear a former players take.

For this season, and into the future, I'm okay with our coaching staff...I ask you...who else could do better? Who would make the sacrifice to come to ISU and lead us to relevancy? I'll going to get crushed for this, but I felt the the need to express my view on these issues...

I'm not sold on firing CPR either...yet. But a 1-4 start with losses to Kansas, Toledo, and Iowa (3 of the 4 worst teams on the schedule) will change a lot of minds after the first weekend in October. I, for one, hope that isn't the case and that somehow things suddenly correct themselves, but I'm also a realist.
The worst thing that an ISU football coach can do is to cause hope to be lost. I think that we're about 2 more losses away from that. The tickets for this fall may be sold, but think about how "wonderful" it will be for the last home game of the season for our 1-8 team to come in front of a crowd of < 10,000. And then think about the sales job that will be required to get those season ticket holders back in 2016.
Pollard may need to make a coaching decision by Veteran's day in order to save the 2016 season.
You forgot to type "We are Iowa State."
We've been bad. That doesn't mean we settle for it. If we're going to play in the big boy divisions with scholarships and everything, we need to at least aim for average.
