This probably won't be popular but ISU needs to drop the Iowa game

I agree that we should drop the game, but not because of scheduling. I would do it just to antagonize their hillbilly fanbase.

Then I could hear them talk about how scared ISU is of them, right after they tell me about the Orange Bowl, how many pros they have and how they didn't actually go to school there, but they have some family member who did.

we drop Iowa, we won't sell out the stadium...and we need to sell out the stadium to pay for additional stadium enhancements...if the stadium isn't full, and we don't sell tickets we won't have the facilities...if we don't have the facilities then we...won't...have...a good team?...or won't be able to buy out our current coaches contract? I say we keep them until we know we can beat lesser opponents consistently. If that makes any sense.

If you need to drop a P5 school that you have beat three out of the last five years and is a rival no less, and replace them with a cupcake just to get to six wins, there are much bigger problems with your program than the schedule.

The conference schedule is the problem. 6 wins is a hell of a lot easier in the B1G or SEC. Sure the SEC has a few more top heavy teams, but you also don't play them every year and they have a lot more cream puffs.

Seriously, what's your deal? I hope you are a troll because if you aren't, you have serious confidence issues (with our team and yourself in your own life). We lose ONE game. Boo hoo, go root for Alabama or something because fans like myself will still be here. We don't need this damn negativity with the state the program is in now. I seriously question if some of you on here are real fans or just hopped on the bandwagon in 2012 and are ready to board ship and root for the next up and coming team.

I didn't realize isu might've made a bowl game if they hadn't played iowa.

Holy Flircking Shnit, you cannot possibly believe that about the SEC. Maybe in the East, but the entire West division was ranked just a week ago.

If you're constantly crying about how tough your schedule is, it's because your team just isn't very good.

Logically, OP has a point. Other schools are able to schedule 3 creampuffs

And we can't even schedule creampuffs right! How come the "gimmie" games are always against actually good smaller schools? I swear whichever MAC team we schedule ends up the flipping favorite in their conference that year. Seriously- whoever we have on the schedule in 2017 from the MAC, you can BANK on them being the favorite that year. Why for we never get a MAC cellar dweller, or an FCS team that isn't ranked?

Meanwhile, somewhere Baylor is demolishing Directional Manitoba State Seminary.

To the OP - I think I would rather play 8 conf games and keep Iowa than 9 and drop them. (won't happen) Like others have said, it's a fun game for the state overall, despite the agonies of defeat.

Their strength of schedule-

85, 24, 148, 166, 35, 48, 28, 21, 173, 5, 83, 62, 33, 98. So yes, I believe that.

With I State there is NO Gimme games ..........We lost to Drake at Home for crying out loud.....Who are you going to schedule worse than Drake..........

I want to keep playing Iowa because maybe we canlose another 15 games in a row..........That sure was fun.

I would prefer if all 12 games were P5 games at every school (unless there's a rivalry). I don't see how playing Purdue or Vanderbilt would be any more difficult than the top FCS program every other year and a really good FCS program on odd years. Our other non-P5 opponent this year is favored by a touchdown.

I'd rather play Vanderbilt than any non-P5 we have scheduled in the next few years.

Here's the OOC schedule for the next several seasons:

If we get Vandy on the schedule, somehow they hire the best coach ever, and the year we play them they replace Bama as the SEC champ. That's just the way ISU FB scheduling works.

the problem for ISU is that they're the creampuff right now

Is being an alumni a requirement of being a fan? I'm not aware of this rule.

Where is this from? Here's some SEC schools SOS from 2014 according to Sagarin:

Alabama - 2
Georgia - 8
Ole Miss - 3
Miss St -17
Arkansas -4
Auburn - 1
LSU - 5
Missouri - 10
Texas A&M - 6
Florida - 16
Tennessee - 9
South Carolina - 13

I have a hunch that it's their current SOS for the 2015 schedule. I didn't even know they did SOS rankings this early.

Time to give up on the tough 9 game conference schedule excuse until the Big 12 steps it up in bowl games, and so far the conference has been unimpressive in non-conference games this year. If we get better the wins are out there.
