I would love for ISU to get Mack Brown. I feel it would be ISU's "Johnny Orr" hire for football. So many Texas connections, has had a lot of loyal players/assistants at Texas that would join up again with him. I would think that beating Texas and raising ISU's status would be a great thing for him to close out his career with.

Question is, how much can ISU offer? What would he be willing to take to make it interesting?

What's the point Rhoads will be back.

No he won't. There comes a point where u have to protect your career and job. JP is not old and does not have enough to retire on probably. No program can afford to keep a coach who wins less than 10 games in 3 years...no program.

Mack brown idea is ridiculous honestly. I'm not convinced he's that good of coach either. Texas dominated the state because there were no other programs worth a damn, even A&M was down for years. When things started to get Better for TCU and Baylor, Texas dropped off big. Mack has zero incentive to return. He's wealthy and enjoying retirement.

Let's see: need to build a football program so let's hire a guy who will be 65 years old in opening day next year. There's an idea.

I'd hope PJ Fleck from WMU is on our list to at least interview. Young coach but good recruiting at a MAC and schedules aggressively. Seems to have potential.

Big fan of canoes are you? I've always thought ISU had some goofy traditions, but PJ has forced some odd **** on WMU.

My list in order:

Doug Meachum (TCU Off. Coor.) - He made Trevone Boykin relevant.
Scott Frost (OU Off. Coor.)
Mike Norvell (ASU Off. Coor.)

Fleck does a good job of self promotion, but he's going to need to win MAC games this year to prove he should be in the conversation.

If ISU is looking for a new HC, I would hope they go after a guy with some HCing experience. The current Memphis coach makes sense. I would also like us to look at guys like Greg Schiano, Jim Tressel or Jim Leavitt. I think Maryland fired Edsill to get in first with Schiano. I realize Tressel and Leavitt have some baggage, but that's Jamie job to figure what the back story is.

Schiano would be a great hire.
