Re: Paul Rhoads has been fired....

Not quite. There are better ones. And the prohm hire said we are willing to put some money out there. Guessing a donor wrote a check.

The Prhom hire said nothing of the sort. We paid market rate, that's it.

Coach Rhoads didn't help himself this season or last, but I'll always believe realignment's effects on recruiting following Rhoads best years are what ultimately did him in.

If Rhoads would accept a job in the AD offices I'd be all for that, but I'm sure he wouldn't.

He would be better at that job than as a football coach IMO. He's very passionate about this school and he would be a great ambassador and promoter of ISU athletics IMO. That is what he should be doing.

He was just in over his head as head football coach.

Sad day. Really really liked Paul, and was really hoping he was the answer for our football team. Liked him as much as I liked Danny Mac. That said, it's the right decision. Can't lose yesterday the way he lost it. It was the final straw, it had to be. I really believe if they win yesterday, he keeps the job for another season. Just a sick feeling to see it happen to a great guy, but it is the right move.

Thanks Paul. We will always have Okie State in 2011...

I have a "suspicion" Pollard/Leath already has someone lined up. Happened after last week's loss, but cemented yesterday. Will be announced after last game of season so recruiting can take big advantage.

Re: Paul Rhoads has been fired....

This is your AD trying to save his own neck. Good luck finding a better coach with all the openings this year.

As has been demonstrated the last couple of weekends, we can comb the junior highs for a better coach.

Oh please. I'd like your delusional brain. There are a ton of much, much, much more appealing Power 5 job openings. A good, established coach isn't going to say "Iowa State has facilities that are comparable with a mid-range power 5 job' or "Iowa State has loyal fans". A good established coach is going to see that the road to winning is a lot faster at a place like Maryland or Illinois or Missouri.

We'll be lucky to get an FCS head coach or a D-1 coordinator. Get prepared for a position coach.

Just remember that we had a top 10 basketball team coming back and the best we could manage is a low-major head coach and our second choice was a great assistant, who had only been to the NCAA tournament with one of his teams once.

You are one of the most emotionally sensitive people I've ever heard of. I'd hate to be up-and-down as much as you must be.

The Toledo game also helps to make that 90 seconds seem like it is not a fluke.

Yep. I think there's a good list of situations including specific plays and even just not looking prepared from the opening kick over the last 7 years.

Yesterday topped it off.
