I couldn't agree more. Nothing is worse in the fan base than the "We can't get anyone good" or "We are just Iowa State" mentality. F*** that, we are going to get a good coach.

We have a president for the first time maybe ever who understands the importance of top-tier athletics to the university. We have an incredible fan base and great facilities. And most importantly, we will have a deep pocket to sign a quality coach. I have no doubt about that right now.

If you think we just fired a guy with one game left in the season so we could settle for hiring the running backs coach from Coastal Carolina, you are the delusional one, not me.

Let's be clear.....I think both Jamie and Leath want to hire a good candidate. I think they are both willing to pay for that candidate.

But they can't force anyone to take the job. That's thing---someone has to want it. Who is going to want it? I'm still waiting on names.

It's like everyone on here thinks that just by offering $5 million a year, someone great will take the job. That **** doesn't happen anymore. Houston is willing to pay $3 million for the right guy. Houston! And hell that's a much easier job than Iowa State.

Can't open the check book if no one is willing to take the check.

In theory, we opened the checkbook for the basketball coach (that's why Leath got involved, remember?) and we still ended up with a low major coach. And that was for a good basketball program!

And again, I'm not upset about the decision being made. I just don't automatically think that Iowa State football is going to be better off long term.

Do you realize how many mid major coaches have gone on to win final fours with P5 teams? A ton. If Prohm had been a 58 year old mid major coach I'd be worried..he's not though. You aren't guaranteed success by simply hiring another coach from a P5 school...see Nebraska football and others. It is far better to role the dice on a younger up and coming coach who might just be great. Prohm can recruit and he can put players in the NBA. That's all I needed to see. Time will tell.

Relax. How can you want a HC who has won 8 games in 3 years? Hell I could do that.

Did you expect anything else. He's stubborn beyond belief.

Thinks he's Beamer going for one last sendoff or something.

Why administration (not surprising though) would let it is even greater. Goes back to the whole mentality. It's a business. Not a 3 hour photo-op hopefully creating non-adverse memories...

How about ESPN? Do you think they should be able to spell a coach's name correctly?

attachment.php

Well this is a news source covering college FB so I can cut some slack to them because we don't get much coverage from them so understandable at least...... A fan who has had the same coach with a name where spelling has never changed in 7 flipping years...... Just stupid.

It is funny that the article heading has it spelled wrong but the article has it spelled correctly....How does one accomplish that?

Of course it isn't black and white. But coaches don't want to lose. No coach worth his salt, comes into a job saying, I can win 6 games a year a few times and keep my job for 7 years. Rhoads didn't think that---it's not like he's sitting over there counting his money and laughing at how he got his.

We can all pat ourselves on the back for being great fans and for upgrading our facilities so that they are comparable to other schools. And that's all good. But get off this board and read what other, non-biased football journalists are saying about the Iowa State job this morning. None of it is good.

I think you should go talk a walk or watch some NFL, as I'm concerned you're going to have a heart attack.

I would take the job for $50,000 and open tabs at all Ames restaurants.....

There will be a long list of coaches that will want this job, don't kid yourself.

There might not be any high profile names on the list, but that shouldn't surprise anyone. But there are a ton of great coaches out there that would love to make 2 million a year. JP and Leath just need to find the right fit.

Ive been saying it for months. This decision would ultimately be made by Leath, and I'm confident it was.
