JP's dream candidate? A volunteer HC.
I'd give a phone call to at least these guys
Phil Montgomery
Matt Campbell
Todd Monken
Dino Babers
Scott Frost
They finally got Da Ranch up in Fargo?
He is on contract until 2021.
Of course, you would call those 5 guys and you would offer them big money. But in the end, I'm guessing those 5 guys will laugh in your face and say I'm either staying where I am (and making good money) or I'll hold out for a much better job.
Again, the reality is that we are likely looking at a low level coordinator or a Power 5 position coach. Or maybe an FCS head coach.
But it is fun to dream.
Oh here we go. Cant wait to hear your reasoning.
That would be great. However, he's already making $1.7 mil at Navy, so we would have to pay more than what we were paying Rhoads to get him.
If they want this style at more of a discount, then keep an eye on Troy Calhoun from Air Force
CW just tweeted a bit ago that he heard a few months back that Scott Frost would have interest in the job. Said the source was very stable tho
Not a sexy pick but I think Todd sturdy might be a good option and here's why. We could get him cheap and with a shorter contract. Players seem to like him and we would have a shot keeping all the young talent that this team does have. The roster is actually set up good for the future. Getting a whole new system could cause us to waste a talent like lanning. I honestly think the best offense we could run is what we were doing the last couple of weeks. We didn't win but it is easy to forget that we should have beat the number 5 ranked team and KSU on the road in back to back weeks because of the offense we were running....now proceed to say I am crazy...
Very different IMO. First of all everything is completely different compared to the spread and you only get one week to prep for it. How many teams in the Big 12 run some variation of the spread? Most of them do.
Big 12 defenses are built to stop a more finesse type game, the spread would be a lot more power. Those hybrid nickel/lb guys would (should) be destroyed with that scheme.
For the most part Big 12 DL's are smaller and quicker, depending on how things go, could be tough for them to handle all those runs destroying them throughout the game.
I am not saying go with the option for sure though.
Running the triple option then is like running the spread now...everyone was doing it.Jim Walden ran the triple option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys are freaking funny.
