... Get a guy who has been successful as a head coach somewhere ... I have coordinator fatigue right now.
1. Big personality
2. Players (allegedly) love playing for him
3. Told Husker fans to **** off

Jim Walden ran the triple option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys are freaking funny.
We will gladly call him Coach Ken.And people had trouble spelling "Rhoads"
Pat Fitzgerald was nearly let go by Northwestern last year after a couple years of stumbles. Northwestern is an even harder place to recruit to than Ames. Runs a style that fits with what we ran toward the end of this season. Enthusiastic coach with credibility, could bring his entire staff and hit ground running. Only earning $2.25 million.
That would be worth a look, if I were in JP's shoes. But you'd have to pry him from his alma mater, which would take some $$$$.
Going on my 41-year as a Cyclone fan (my Frosh year was 1975), I have been through 7-FB coaches:
+ Bruce
+ Duncan
+ Criner
+ Walden
+ Mac
+ Chiz
+ Rhoads
Convince me -what will be different this time?
We get somebody successful, and he's hired away; most likely the next guy is fired 5-years from now. Sorry, if I'm a little 'jilted'

Of course, you would call those 5 guys and you would offer them big money. But in the end, I'm guessing those 5 guys will laugh in your face and say I'm either staying where I am (and making good money) or I'll hold out for a much better job.
Again, the reality is that we are likely looking at a low level coordinator or a Power 5 position coach. Or maybe an FCS head coach.
But it is fun to dream.
The bigger plus is that he is a subject matter expert in the offense. That is critical no matter what we run.The problem is a lot of triple option football isn't power, it's finesse. You are essentially doing the same things and challenging defenses in the same way. Defending an option attack has a lot to do with eye discipline and I just believe that B12 defenses have to have that the way it is. The military academies run these systems because they have a lot of 280-290 lb linemen due to other military standards so they can't just line up and run it down your throat.
Yep. Imo we better hope Leath gets involved and let the accountant concentrate on XC and balance sheets.Really hope things like family man, Iowan, bible boy etc. don't factor into this search
Neil Diamond!!
