One thing I really like about Hoke is that he's available immediately. Of course the coach of the year of three different conferences isn't so bad either. Look at the talent he left for Harbaugh.

Its Michigan. Being able to recruit to Michigan doesn't mean much. Half the posters on this board could get a class full of four and five star guys to Michigan.

Wisconsin and Michigan State both modeled their programs after Iowa. It's a solid plan.

Of course Snyder is a witch but he did coach under Fry as well but I'm not sure their model is that "followable". Unless you can find the next Snyder.

I realize Barry Alvarez coached under Hayden Fry, but Barry took a completely different approach in building Wisky. If anything Ferenz modeled his defenses after what Barry did at Wisky.

Other than the o-line as a group, ISU's talent is pretty close to Iowa's, Kirk just does a better job of getting his kids to execute. There can't be much of a talent gap because they have basically split the series over the past 15 years and even over the last 5-7 years it's apretty evwn split.

And Kirk consistently has an easier schedule than Iowa State does. Everyone wants to act like that is some excuse, but it's not.

Availability is a non-issue. First of all I would be completely surprised if a new coach is announced before Dec 1. So Hoke is no more available than an existing head coach or assistant. If there is truly a coaching search and there are candidates coaching teams in conference championship games, it may not be announced until after Dec 5.

Not sure I am in support of Hoke but he was trying to run a more traditional offense with spread guys. And Rich Rod couldn't win there either but could at WVU and Arizona. So maybe it is a Michigan problem?

It was with RichRod. He just was never accepted and wasn't given much of a chance. Hoke was loved day 1, he won 11 games his first year and then just deteriorated due to the fact he refused to find a way to use Denard Robinson and Devin Gardner. Like Rhoads, he's a great human being but he wants to play 1990s Big Ten football in 2015 and he doesn't have an innovative football mind IMO and that won't work here.

Our OL wasn't bad at all. The tackles weren't great but the interior was pretty solid.

I assume you'd be talking about Brady Hoke here. I'd be open to it. One of the best recruiters in college football, but Michigan really tried to destroy him so they could let him go with "cause." Interestingly, his brother Jon was co=defensive coordinator for Spurrier at SC this past year.

He destroyed himself.

Steve Lonely has a better resume than any coach you are going to get by far. You are clueless as usual.

Unfortunately his window probably passed as a head coach at isu.

Loney has a solid resume as an OL coach, but nothing in he resume speaks to him being qualified as ISU's next head coach. If that was his desire, he would have been a head coach in the last 15 years.

Our next coqching hire needs to be more than a technician, he needs to transform a losing culture.

Here is my list of top 5 in no particular order: (I have confined the list to C-USA, MAC and Sun Belt because that is where we are headed)

1. Jeff Brohm--Western Kentucky
2. P.J. Fleck--Western Michigan
3. Todd Monken--Southern Mississippi
4. Skip Holtz--Louisiana Tech
5. Matt Campbell--Toledo

I find these three to be intriguing but more different reasons think they don't fit the bill at Iowa State.

1. Lance Leopold--Buffalo
2. Rocky Long--San Diego State
3. Willie Fritz--Georgia Southern

Can you imagine the people who never figured out how to spell Rhoad's name having to keep Jeff Brohm and Steve Prohm separate?
