Re: Long Out Rest of Season

Well, ****.

I doubt he'll get the medical redshirt either.

This really, really sucks.

For all of the people complaining about the previous 9 games, now is the time to panic.

NCAA bball medical redshirt is less than 30% of games. He played in 8/30 = 26.7% So he's under that threshold. He should get it easily if he wants to. but with his best friend and roommate gone I don't know...

These things happen for a lot of teams. Time to see what the guys are made of.

This really sucks for Naz, even if he gets to play next year. He came in with all of those guys and has spent years with them. I'm sure he is more dejected than all of us combined.

Get well soon, Naz.

Re: Long Out Rest of Season

He didn't redshirt so his odds are pretty good and he didn't play more than 30% of this year. It's about as slam dunk as it gets.

YUP, my thoughts exactly. Which as a fan... I think is what we all have to take out of it....

But again, look who we are dealing with.... NCAA

Exactly. There is a reason this decision is coming now. Play in one more game at you are right at the 30% threshold.

Like I said, I doubt he gets it. Or maybe he'll just be done with basketball. I sort of doubt he'll really want to play on next year's team.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks this was the plan all along. Get as much from Naz as they could before Burton was eligible.

That actually could have been an option. Not sure it was the plan but play him and see how it went

We can still win games without him. He only had 6 points vs iowa. So it's not the end of the world.

I know he has a great relationship with those guys he came in with... but I also want to believe he has just as great as a relationship with Iowa State and wants to give it all to us as well and I can see him coming back next year for sure.

Re: Long Out Rest of Season

Terrible news for Naz, he really deserved to finish his senior year with Georges to finish off one of the most successful tenures of any Cyclone career.
There'll be time to worry about the team effect later. Lets just appreciate what Long has given to this program and hopefully will continue to assuming his hips are allowed to fully heal and granted a RS.

Injuries happen to every team out there. The great ones get by with them. ISU can still do that just fine. Everyone needs to take a collective step forward

Exactly. There is a reason this decision is coming now. Play in one more game at you are right at the 30% threshold.

you can include post season games so we have a minimum of 31 (adding one for Big 12 tourney and none for ncaa tourney) but good thinking on the part of the trainers/coaches. he didn't redshirt so really the ncaa has no grounds to not approve it.

So what knowledge do you have that makes you believe he'll not get it, despite all evidence being of the contrary?

Also, please realize that there's a significant chance he doesn't play next year either.

That's a pretty selfish plan by ISU coaches if you are right. What if he doesn't get the medical redshirt?
