My heart aches for Naz and the other seniors on this team. I find it very hard to see how we can survive in the Big 12 will only a seven man rotation. Ultimately I think this is a 21-10 team and probably a 6-7 seed. This will be the most difficult challenge that this group has faced in the last three years. People are underestimating the chemistry issues without Naz.
Dude have you watched ISU basketball the past couple years??? 2013-2014 season we played 7 players, won the big 12 tourny, got a 3 seed and made it to the sweet 16. R-E-L-A-X

7 guys and we're a 6-7 seed but with 8 guys we're a 1-2 seed? Depth is the most overrated thing in college basketball. We have very little room for error now but I definitely feel comfortable with our 7 all season long

Depth is only overrated if your entire roster makes it through the season uninjured.

Countless examples of that kind of rotation succeeding at high levels, including our Cyclones.

Nut punch for sure. Silver lining is that we likely have a 5* player for next season that we didn't have yesterday.

Good point, that was already very doubtful imo. An average team just got more average.

What is your definition of average? I can live with not thinking we're top 5, but I'm not seeing a lot of teams outside of the top 8 or so that I am afraid of playing

This def sucks for this years team but having Naz next year makes a huge impact on next season. The increased role/minutes should be big for guys like Thomas, Cooke and Burton. Not to mention it moves a scholarship from this class to next years class.

I wonder what Jackson is thinking about all of this? If Morris and Naz end up being back, that backcourt is pretty full for an elite JUCO.

How many of those games do we lose last year if we don't have Naz? 3 or 4. Essentially everyone thinks that Burton is just going to walk onto the floor and be a major Big 12 contributor. It wasn't as sunny as 9-0 indicated before today's news. 10-8 or 11-7 in the Big 12 is very realistic at this point.

If we stay healthy sure. But what happens if Niang or Morris go down? We have already had one scare this season with Niang.

Or it's possible that we've had enough improvement from Morris, McKay, Nader, and Thomas to make up for the loss of Naz.

Burton doesn't have to be as good as Naz if Thomas is as good as Naz was last year. Burton then just has to give you as much as Thomas or Nader gave you last year.

That is my biggest concern with his return. I'm not sold right now that he will be a starter next season and it clogs up an already guard heavy roster. While we could redshirt Jakolby, it still leaves us a bit thinner in the front court without an option to take a transfer with current scholarship limits. This is assuming Monte returns as well.

If Morris or Niang went down, whether Naz is playing or not, we would be in huge trouble. That's really another issue.

You're just trolling right? Our season would be over if Niang got injured. We can't replace Niang, we can replace Long.

Are people not reading Twins full post? It's like they stopped after the second sentence.
