I have a very weird job and sometimes some funny and/or weird things happen. I decided to start a thread so anytime I get some material I will post it. I have had calls for people who passed away who had funny names. Off the top of my head, I have had Richard Head, **** Johnson, Harry Johnson, Ofelia Cox, Bobby Murders.... a bunch that I can't remember.

I just had a hospice nurse tell me "my computer just went down on me." Had to hit my mute button and laugh for a minute. Yes I am a 3 year old.

Sometimes I get other types of calls that are not funny but are worth posting about so I will post those things as well. A few days ago I had a guy call up and tell me he was going to go dig up Jimi Hendrix's body and eat it. The funeral home/cemetery where Hendrix is buried is a client of ours. We get calls all the time from people that have odd Hendrix questions.

More to come.

When I worked in a tire shop, there was a customer that we helped named **** Banger. He made sure to tell me it was pronounced 'Banjer'. Needless to say, when I called his name over our loud system I didn't pronounce it banjer. Had to hang up the intercom mid call because I was laughing too hard to continue.

I worked with a **** Boner actually though he said his last name was pronounced "boneyar". I also worked with a Ronda DeCock. People would accidentally call her fonda all the time.

Not exactly sure.
Wen I was working at a car dealership I was showing this lady with a couple kids an old used car. I thankifully looked down in time to see her 3-4 year old pull down his pants and start peeing in my direction. Was able to get out of the way or else my knee on down would have been soaked.

Intersting. The City of Renton's maintenance shop, which is located right behind that cemetery, used to be a client of my company. I've been to Jimi's grave a couple of times.

Yesterday, on the air, Chris Williams said he loves "Woody and Long." I too am a mental 13 year old. I almost swerved off the highway I was laughing so hard: It was also very windy.

I've been in charge of a lot of email systems, and over time one ends up seeing lots of names. I've seen the names already mentioned several times, but I always felt most sorry for the girl who's parents named her Crystal Ball.

Getting back on topic. I took a phone call one day (pre IP) and a user said they couldn't get logged in.
Everyone had a dummy terminal at their desk that was connected by miles of coax. I always told people to write their VTAM address on a postit and just stick it to their terminal but of course no one could be bothered with that.
After looking through all the network connections and hardware controllers I couldn't find anything wrong. After about 45 minutes they asked if it had anything to do with the lights being off. Building two had no power so naturally they called the computer department to say they couldn't get logged in.
