Students do have an early chance to buy the break tickets, I think $5 for the student and $25 for other tickets they get with them. That is how we have been getting to some games at Hilton the last several years and are going to the Baylor game. Son did a lot of whining about there being two conference games during break, usually is just one.

It is a strange atmosphere though. At one of the break games, sitting in Cyclone Alley, three people ahead of us stood up for about 45 minutes filming warmups on their phones, then messed around sending them to people during the actual game.

I agree with this 100%, our games on ESPNU always sound dead, even big games.

ESPNU has gone to a lot of off site broadcasters too. Its hard for the game to seem exciting when the guys calling it are sitting in a sound booth in Charlotte. Kills the appearance of atmosphere.

Crowd was just fine in the first half. They cheered when we did well, got on the refs for bad calls, and made a little noise on defense. The second half the crowd sounded great on TV, and actually got really loud for a short stretch.

One part really confused me.. Prohm called a time-out after Georges made a 3 to put us up by 8 or so down the stretch. The crowd got on their feet, but then a dead ball..... TT came out and got a bucket after that, then the media time-out the next dead ball. I think this is the 2nd or 3rd time where Prohm has called a TO after a positive offensive play during a run, or to start a run.

With about 7 minutes to go the crowd was on its feet making lots of noise with ISU on defense. The shot clock was about to expire, we made a steal and had a breakaway but Monte was overthrown and ball went out of bounds. TV time out and everyone sits down. If Monte would have made a dunk the place would have went crazy.

A couple times in the second half got a little loud, but with little kids and their families filling up the student section you can't expect it to be loud.

If it was dead it is because the refs made the game about them

^^^THis...that jagoff with the comb over who was calling phantom fouls on Niang had an agenda last night. He only waived off Niang's potential 4th foul in the paint when he realized some crazy was going to find him after the game. Absolutely the worst officiated game I've seen in a long time.

That 3rd foul on Niang was horrible. Yes he pushed of a little but that was an offense of foul.

This was the first game I’ve been to since the return of Hilton Magic…

It was WAY better atmosphere compared to the last few games I went to years ago.To me the place was packed and loud! I wasn’t expecting it since it was a wed night during break against tech, throw in the weather. The fact that last night’s crowd was considered lame is a testament of how downright awesome Hilton really is!!!

Break games used to be really empty. We were full for Coppin State, and Texas Tech was during some snow. We've come a long ways from moving down to the 2nd row from the balcony because no one is there.

I think people get a little spoiled and expect everything to sound like a Kansas, Okie State, or Iowa game. It may have sounded quiet on TV, but down the stretch the place was alive and on fire.

That's because the students weren't there. Winter break, bruh.

That, and the fact that the refs sucked all the momentum out of the game for a while. I thought they yelled when the team needed encouragement, and when they did something well. Hard to get on an earth shaking run when the other team is hitting shots, so that kind of keeps the noise from building too.
