TRIL made me alot of coin in a couple days, its on a downhill slide unfortunately. If you want to play pennies EPGL is one I'm in. Makes me nervous but i only own a few weekends worth of Welch Ave in total $$$ amount of shares.

As rates go up, market will tend to go down. No world drivers to boost the economy.....

Might be a little late to the party. Expect to see lots of volatility especially early this year. If I have to pick one stock that should do best at year-end. Hmm. I will have to go with one of my favorites SLW (12.48). Probably a little early right now but would Love to pick up some shares below $10.

Add: Potential short is Autozone. Someday will blow up due to buying back shares with new debt.

Shorts are saving me this week. Otherwise a disaster.

This is false. They may react short term in this manner but through out history bull markets generally see rising interest rates.

Dont ever put a stop market order on an ETF. It cost me 30k last year. Weird rules with these exotics. They can drop in value by 40% and back up in minutes. PJP got me. I had no idea, they are not stocks, no do they act like stocks, they emulate stocks. Someone let me know if I am wrong.

Just saw this post. Man you got burned due to the high-frequency trading. Some ETF's were hit really hard by the market failures. Most traders hate to actually enter stops now because of things like this and it lets the algo's know where the orders are and they often try to run the stops. Here is a pretty good explanation from Nasdaq.

Also, the markets like Nasdaq and NYSE are looking right now at doing away with these Good-till-cancelled type orders. IMO this is a very bad idea and will lead to more volatility but I can see why they would be looking at it when things like this happen to you. There are much better solutions but they might be perceived to hurt their business.

I'm pretty much long term yet risk averse so I have had a big chunk of cash on the sidelines for a while waiting for the right time to jump back in rather than shorting. I don't need to catch the bottom by any means but obviously I don't want to buy index funds when the DJ hits 16k only to have it go to 13k. In terms of index funds, how low does everyone think the DJ and S&P will go?

No clue on calling the bottom but I'll be moving a portion out of cash every 500 or so points. I'm willing to bet that in 5 years the market will be above where it is today.

Worst first week for the stock market, EVER. Ooops I guess that the economy isn't that great. You could tell from the charts that its was looking week but I did not expect the speed of the sell-off.

It is not looking good. Look for lots of people to start to panic and then we could see the market explode to 25,000 plus by 2017-2020.

Our Panic Cycles began to turn up this week moving into next week. If we penetrate last year’s low of 15370, then we may see a drop to retest the major support area in the 12875-13100 area. We should break the market FIRST and this appears to be setting up for the extension beyond 2017. A monthly closing below 16013 will signal that the market should crack and then we will be set up for a really wild rise.

If we're talking % increase I'll take LINE or LNCO (Same company, Linn Energy). Oil stock trading down around $1 after a brutal '15. You can get a 10% gain in a day without too much work.

Thumbs up if only because I've been murdelized by LNCO this year. Energy will be a good play eventually but I'm not sure that LINE/LNCO makes it to the other side. At this point I'm looking at my shares as a call option...

Have you also no

Yes, I like Goldwaters philosophies for the most part. Ironically enough I do veer from the libertarian view in the areas of displacing fossil fuels, but that's probably for a later cave discussion. Bonus points if you know the historical leader depicted in my avatar.

YOu are Groovy. Lyndon Baines Johnson is a ****.
