Not really. And especially not around here, where it's a race to undermine results by listing all of the backups that wrestled for either team.

Until there's a legitimate dual-based championship, all we're doing is watching glorified exhibitions until March.

So there are a lot of teams and wrestlers that struggle all year but then magically compete for national titles?

Please.

If Oklahoma loses a dual in January because Brewer doesn't wrestle, does that make them a worse team for March? Of course not.

Unless both teams wrestle their 10 best starters every time, duals aren't worth much weight.

And a good dual team and a good tournament team are two separate things. The NCAA team title can be won with 5 top guys and 5 scrubs. Duals can barely be won with 5 guys and 5 scrubs.

I appreciate your optimism, but if you are remotely referring to ISU, you're delusional.

I don't think too many teams consistently do well over course of year and then lay eggs in March. I'd rather have a team i can stomach watching during the season, only to be disappointed on a four-day vacation in March. They wrestle good all year, then things should fall into place. You always are at mercy of injuries....but can certainly train to minimize. This "one step forward, two steps back" over the last handful of years has been tough. The lack of people in the coliseum has been as disappointing as anything. If it's not working, then use another model.

I'm glad to see everybody's back. I was a little worried when there were only a couple of us discussing the Virginia Duals that maybe a bunch of people were sick or something.

I happy if judoka happy. So what fuels our next step forward-- 1) our last step forward? or 2) our last step backward?

There are some comments in here that I agree with but if you look at the top 5 teams at the NCAA tournament each year you are going to find teams that performed well over the course of the regular season in tournaments and in duals.

I don't care if you're happy or not. Drive by ****-posting that doesn't add anything to the conversation is worthless. CycloneReport is now totally dead because of it, TheMat is mostly dead because of it. Just about every wrestling forum on the net is basically dead because of it. If somebody wants to talk about actual matches or meets they're welcome to it. If you read through the threads on the wrestling forum here there's lots of discussion about what individual losses mean and how guys are or aren't living up to expectations and nobody is calling people out for it. Because that is actual value added discussion.

But if all you can do is swing by when we lose and ****-post then why should anyone take you seriously? If your posting is indistinguishable from a troll coming by to stir the pot then why should you expect other posters to treat you as anything but a troll coming by to stir the pot?

I don't have any problem with people thinking this program needs to be performing better. I do also. I go to almost every home dual and a few away duals and follow them on Flo and go to Nationals. I don't like to go and watch them lose. But I can recognized when guys have a good tourney or dual and let them and the coaches know. If you want this team to excel, we need to praise them when they do something good. Criticism is alright, but nobody wants to be ran down all the time. I have read that Mike Moreno looked at transferring/quitting back in his redshirt freshman year. Dang that makes me sick that he was thinking that, but he was struggling and the fan base was not helping.

Nothing wrong with criticism, but a little praise goes along ways toward keeping these guys working hard and getting better. Tanner is performing much better than earlier in the season, as is Dane.

But when threads, like after he Virginia Duals are quiet and the threads after losses are full of a different set of poster, is frustrating and really makes me wonder if you have any interest in wrestling and the program.
