leadership should count for something right? Not sure uthoff has the same effect on his team as George's does ours

Niang - 19.7 ppg 6.4 rpg 3.1 apg
J-Off - 18.6 ppg 6.2 rpg 1.2 apg

J-Off will fall off the map in a couple weeks. He is hot right now but will falter with the added pressure... much like he did at ISU. Give me steady George all day. He loves the limelight and actually plays better in big games.

Next, hawk fans are going to tell us Nicky Bear is better than Matt Thomas.

Not sure if this is a serious question or not, but the answer is obviously Niang. Uthoff has played one good half of basketball in his career.

Georges, better at getting teammates involved and initiating offense. Oh Georges will close games. I might be biased but oh well. Every game when I watch him play I think about how he will be gone next year and it makes me so sad

Stat wise they are pretty much identical, except you trade Georges assists for Uthoff blocks.

Georges wins all the non-quantifiable categories though.

Blasphemy!

Give me Georges every day of the week. We have been so lucky to have Georges Niang wear the Cardinal and Gold for 4 years. What a player.

Sure, Uthoff is likely more "draftable" and more likely to have an NBA career than Georges, but I'd take Georges Niang on my team any day.

Funny because I thought this too but my hawk buddy thought the other way around.

Georges impacts the game in so many ways. No way would I trade Georges for Utoff straight up. Our team would not be better, it would take a step back in my opinion.

As for the Hawks, they had a guy this year have a Lafester type moment and they still couldn't beat us. And last year we mopped their home floor with them.

Georges and it isn't even close. Georges has been doing his thing successfully for 4 years and nobody has figured out how to stop it. Uthoff was decent last year and very good this year.

Isn't even close? Some of you are embarrassing. It's close. George is a better closer and just as good of a scorer. He's not nearly as useful defensively and he's not as dynamic offensively as Uthoff. I guess I'd take Georges because he doesn't shrink in the moment but to say it isn't close is ignorant.

it would depend on what my team needed. If i had other scorers I'd take Uthoff. If I needed a primary scorer I'd take Niang.

If I was drafting a team of players for a big game, I would pick Niang first, but I think Uthoff is probably the more valuable player overall due to his defensive value.

Just based on this season and not for their career... I'd have to say Uthoff. Don't like it. Wish it wasn't so. But it is. Now I feel gross and need a shower.

Uthoff is probably better than I'd like to give him credit for. He's the best player on their team this year.

Georges is a once in a generation player. Jersey from rafters type of guy.

It's not that close of a call, Niang 998/1000 times.

Let's not get ridiculous. Uthoff has had a fantastic year and is deserving of being on the Wooden watch. The answer is Georges, however, based on his ability to step up and be the guy at the end of a close game.

I love the part that Iowa is the better team, funny too bad we don't have a head to head matchup to determine that. I would play them any day and anywhere.

Writer is a lifelong Hawkeye. Way too early to make that statement. No team is clearly better than a team they lost to when separated by 2 spots in RPI. Any one week could flip who is having the better season and Nebraska didn't do wonders for Iowa's msu wins.

Come on, guys. To say it is Niang and not even close is disingenuous at best and moronic at worst. Niang has had the better career by far. He is better looking and a better dancer. He is better at trash-talking and then also backing it up. He is a better closer. That list goes on and on.

But you have to give Uthoff some credit this year. Even if you pick Niang, it is close. Damn close.
