The apology is nice, and I hope he did that on his own. His actions now on and off the court will say a lot more. It would have been nice to see a tweet after the game yesterday congratulating the team on the win, but maybe that is expecting to much.

Only time will tell what happens here, but honestly I don't remember a lot of these types of situations working out very well.

You know there are other ways to congratulate his teammates. One would think he has their numbers to send them a text directly.

McKay is an emotional and sensitive guy. Hopefully he can get back to being that ultra-positive guy we saw last season and during the offseason. He was so easy to cheer for because he always had a smile on his face and seemed to enjoy being at Iowa State. I'm looking forward to seeing him get back out there and hopefully keep his head down and play. He's a good player. He just needs to accept his role. This is a big moment in the season.

I don't think he is a bad kid, quite the opposite actually. People mature differently and it isn't always a consistent process, there are huge setbacks and huge leaps in the maturation process. He is playing too many minutes and is hurt doing it. Hopefully this is a big leap. He is after all 21 or 22 years old, these things happen. Most people on here had the benefit of not having everything you do or say when you are that age dissected by the public a million ways. You are what you ultimately are able to overcome. Could be a blessing in disguise for everyone.

I know I will be cheering hard for him.

Understood but if I'm an amateur athlete I'm not making my instagram, twitter, or Facebook available to the public. There just isn't a lot to gain from it.

But you make that decision, now (I'm assuming) as an adult that hasn't been in college for a while. When you were 20, you might have made a different choice.

McKay has been a problem longer than most know. It's going to be an issue the rest off the year unless a leopard magically changes his spots. They have to babysit him and it hasn't just been recent. It is what it is. It's up to him now.

Others at age of 20 but not me. I'm saying I'm not better by saying that or blasting people that choose to do so, I just think there is too much to lose by having so many random followers and friends.
I mean there is a reason 99.9% of the people on here don't use their real name, and a decent portion are around the age of 20.

I can think of one major thing to gain from it.

Everyone's always a genius when talking about what other people should do.

Had to edit because I missed putting saying I'm not better. There are a lot of people that can't handle social media very well and Jameel may be one of them. He is obviously an emotional person so I just think there is more to lose than win with that.
It's nothing about being a genius or not, just being smart enough to know when to follow Georges (and others) lead and just stay hungry and lay off of it.
