Did Fred mess up not taking Peter Jok?

There is a reason Iowa plays a lot of zone this year. Jok is a terrible defender and a zone defense not only protects players from fouling, but also hides player's defensive weaknesses.

From what I remember, Jok was all about being at ISU but then he got injured twice and ISU as well as most other schools in the country quit recruiting him. He was being touted as a big time recruit until the injuries. And like others have stated, he wasn't very good until this year just like Matt Thomas.

I would say Jok's development is further evidence of Fran's ability to take average-rated recruits and develop them into some of the top scorers in the B1G - and make them excellent role players of a cohesive team. As much as I hate to admit this, I have to accept it, because look at the player development of the past few years.
Jok ain't gonna carry a team on his back, but neither can any of the current Iowa starters - but collectively they can play excellent team ball and know their role.

I wouldn't go that far. Jok has been a lights out shooter since high school. His lack of playing time is due to him only wanting to play ball on one end of the floor.

I would add, he is seeing more good looks this year due to Uthoff getting the opposing team's best defender, leaving Jok with an average defender. Most teams don't have 1 lock down defender, let alone 2.

Now you just sound stupid. There was contact between Fred, the staff and Jok, that much we know for sure. We also know that there was improper contact between Lefty and Jok. I just wanted to know if Fred offers if there is no worry about NCAA violations. This takes some insider information on the situation, and you obviously don't have any of that.

Like I said, no big deal, but man oh man, you certainly don't like to be challenged do you? I mean for a guy who has zero ties to the school for information, you certainly do think you know everything that goes down recruiting wise. LOL, that is hubris at it's best.

Says guy that is probably going on username #10 that has wasted countless hours on an ISU message board pretending to be an ISU fan while backhandedly trying to prop up the hoks.

That sure was a heck of a 3 point squeaker at home against a 6 win team last night.

Iowa also only has one true big in the starting lineup and only one coming off the bench. Zone defense helps the undersized guys inside.

Jok has been pretty terrible up until this year. He really progressed a lot in the offseason.

You could say the same thing about Thomas......but the similarity ends there. I see Jok as me-first guy, maybe not real coachable. Thomas has elevated ALL facets of his game this year, and is the ultimate team player.

Thomas is a very good player, but Jok may be all Big Ten.

If he is, then the B1G has some pretty low standards. Watch Jok play - if he's scoring, he's all in and wired. If not, he looks disinterested. Thomas plays all out, all the time.....on both ends of the floor. This is where Thomas stands out, to me. Plus MT was top 100 coming out of high school. Whar Jok?

A win's a win. Undefeated at home. If Jok wasn't on fire last night, we probably lose that game. Not sure what happened. I do know Minnesota really really hates Iowa.

If Jok wasn't on fire last night you probably lose to a team that has won one game since November 2015? Yikes

Peter Jok is 0-3 vs. Iowa State. More than likely will be 0-4 by the end of his career. He would not have developed had he come to ISU he wouldn't have received minutes his freshman and soph season. I'll take Long and Thomas as our wings next year with Morris running the show.

I doubt he really cares about the 0-3 part, he's winning a big10 title and will be 'the guy' in IC next year. Of course we would liked to have had him, but that's hindsight. Or should I say Lefty Less sight.
