Is he gone for the year then?
Yes, Stokes is out for the year. Two other freshmen are red shirts due to academics for one and injury for the other. I feel for coach Weber, as he puts these kids in position to win but there are just not enough bullets left in the gun. No way should they have lost to oSu other than a freshman (Barry Brown) fiddling the ball away at the end of regulation.

I thought Stokes looked pretty poor against us but I haven't watched K State much outside of that. That sucks for you guys if he's out for the year.

Or the years they tied and lost the head to head to the team they tied against.
The only time since the Big 12 has gone to a balanced schedule that KU has shared the title was in 2013 when we tied with Kansas State. We beat them by 4 @KSU, beat them by 21 @KU and beat them by 16 in Big 12 Tourney. Yet I doubt you see it as being viewed as anything other than "shared" still, right? In 2008, we tied with Texas. Lost by 3 @Texas, didn't get a return date to Lawrence, beat them by 10 in the Big 12 tourney and won the national title. I assume you still see this as the one that shouldn't be viewed as a title for KU. In 2006 we also tied with Texas; lost @Texas by 25, also didn't get a return date to Lawrence, beat them in the Big 12 Tourney title game by 10. Yet another "no real title' season for KU, I assume, right? Glad we get the home and home series now with the South teams; levels the playing field forcing them to have to play in our gym as well. EDIT: I forgot we also won in '05 and tied with Oklahoma. Lost @Oklahoma by 8, also didn't get a return date to Lawrence, and didn't get to play them in the Big 12 tourney. So there's is the one season where we didn't at least break even with the team we shared the title with.

Stokes is no all-star but by far the best we had before going down. If he returns this year, it would be a big surprise to me and help to this team.

But for a horrid call in Ames favoring Ku, K-State would have been outright champion in 2013.

OU laid a huge egg Saturday.

What is this "Big 12 Tourney" you speak of? I thought those were meaningless exhibition games after the real season.

2013 was the year. KU had no business beating Iowa State in either Lawrence or Ames that season. Still squeaked out a tie for the title.

I have a rather uncomfortable feeling that KU's claim to another outright title will come down to our game in Lawrence on the last Saturday. It will be us vs 8 to deny KU another title... I expect some world-class BS to go KU's way in that game.

In 5:11 split between the first 2:44 of the game (8-0) and a 2:27 burst in the 2nd half (10-0), Okie State outscored Kansas 18-0.

In the other 34:49 of the game, KU outscored Okie State by 45 points.

Iowa State still has a remote, albeit highly improbable, path to the Big 12 title. It hinges largely on KU shooting itself in the foot multiple times, ISU winning at KU in season finale,West Virginia winning at the Phog and ISU winning at BU and WV, and a few other unlikely results.

And that only accomplishes a tie for first!

Downside to this fantasy: Big 12 upper-echelon teams would drop in tourney seedings.

OK, that’s the gist. Here it is! Using mred

1. Iowa State (12 - 6) Defeated Kansas, West Virginia, and Oklahoma based on round-robin record.
2. Kansas (12 - 6) With West Virginia, defeated Oklahoma and lost to Iowa State based on round-robin record. Defeated West Virginia based on record against #6 teams.
3. West Virginia (12 - 6) With Kansas, defeated Oklahoma and lost to Iowa State based on round-robin record. Lost to Kansas based on record against #6 teams.
4. Oklahoma (12 - 6) Lost to Iowa State, Kansas, and West Virginia based on round-robin record.
5. Texas (11 - 7)
6. Baylor (9 - 9)
7. Texas Tech (7 - 11)
8. Oklahoma State (6 - 12) Defeated Kansas State based on record against #5 teams.
9. Kansas State (6 - 12) Lost to Oklahoma State based on record against #5 teams.
10. TCU (3 - 15)

Going to be tough for wv to win at the phog seeing they've already played there and lost. I like your thinking though
