1. No emphasis on building the program based on recruiting.

2. A team culture that he could manage but wasn't one that could be sustained when another coach took over. I'm talking about things like letting players show up late to practice.

Those are the two main things. Each have lots of negative implications.

LOL

I knew it would be a pointless request. Point 1, maybe. Point 2, not even close. Bottom line, the positives Fred did in his time as coach far outweigh any negative that you try to conjure up. You need to let go of your hate. Its very unhealthy.

Have I ever said that the negatives outweigh the positives? Never. I just think the negatives are real and have hurt the program. Your insintence in denying that is stupid.

Hurt the program? Lol. They are a top 15 team this year and if Morris stays there is a good chance they could continue to be a top 25 team. Yeah the program is in really bad shape.

I think one reason Fred left is that it was more stressful for him to coach ISU than someone else bc of how much he loves ISU. He isn't connected with the Bulls emotionally. It's just a job. You could tell that last season really put a lot of stress on him and I think looking back it was the right time to turn the program over to someone else if he wanted to leave.
The Bulls are in need of a roster overhaul. The question is whether they can attract good free agents to build a good team bc they haven't been able to in the past. I think it will take a couple of years to build the roster around what Fred wants. He also needs Butler to buy into the offense which he hasn't so far.

I was not a Bulls fan before Fred became coach. I root for Fred but I am not by any means a Bulls fan now. I'd rather see Fred coach the TWolves roster anyways. Doesnt have a chance in Chicago with their current roster

2 of anything is never "a lot"

The only things that have hurt this program would have happened regardless of who the coach was.

As an Iowa State fan why would I hate the Bulls coach? One that is a former ISU player and coach? I hope he does well, but I also hope BDJ does well.

As a coach he is much, much closer to Floyd than Orr. Al said it best. Fred the Mayor is dead (due to how he left not because he left), but he will always be a guy that brought a lot of success to the program.

as I said, those are the two big things. There are a lot of problems that branch off of those two things.

I disagree that every coach that leaves s school ignores a big part of their job for years before they leave. But if you think so, go ahead.

I think if Fred would get fired after 3 years, he tries one more NBA job and then retires for good after that.
My gut feeling is the move last year was health related. If he doesn't do it then, his window could close.

Fred didn't ignore a big part of his job for years. and again, ISU is a top 15 team even with a starter out for the year. The stuff you say is just laughable

Not going to dump on Fred, because he did some great things for ISU, but there is little doubt that he hurt the program with all the talk about going to the NBA. If he would have gone even a month sooner, ISU had a pretty good shot at several big men that would have made a huge difference in this years team. Just the way things turned out, but the timing of his departure really hurt any chance at having depth on this years team.

Tell me what guys ISU would have gotten if he left a month earlier bc the only guys they were in on were coming here bc of Fred and him leaving a month earlier just means they would have lost out on them a month earlier.

Wtf with this Fred hate? The man is a Cyclone to the bone and is responsible for turning our program into a decent basketball program. I also wish he would have stayed but you have to do what is in your best interest and follow your dreams. Who knows? Maybe he'll be back next season!

FIFY.

The narrative that ISU is a 'powerhouse' is probably the reason for people being disappointed that this team isn't winning every game by 20.

Because he turned us into a power and did absolutely nothing with it. Which is actually the most Iowa State thing he could have done.

that Michigan transfer might have looked at us if he knew who was our head coach was going to be here.
