I think CSP opened up the playbook tonight. Played more people, substituted more often. I liked it.

In a weird way, and since we won, I'm almost kinda glad Nader struggled some (he'll bounce back). While I think Cooke would have played, no way he gets that many minutes. Not going to go overboard with any expectations for future games, other than to say I'm happy for him and it should give both him and Prohm some confidence in his role.

(Actually I think CSP read "our bench must play" thread

Very cool to see hallice play well tonight. You could see his confidence rise and that is huge right now. Great job hallice!

People have been griping a lot, but compare him to Thomas last year, when Matt got a fair amount of minutes. We need Cooke to get those kind of minutes to keep Matt & Monte fresh for the end. I think maybe Prohm learned something tonight too.

It will be very important to have Cooke and Ashton playing minutes in the Big 12 Tournament when we hope to win three games in three days again. Need 8 guys to do that.

I liked the comparison of Hallice to Matt last year. The difference is that last year some wanted Fred to take minutes away from Matt and play the starters more. This year they want Hallice to play more so the starters can rest.

Glad Hallice played better.

Agree. When Hallice played so well at the point a few games back against Texas I thought he would be seeing more minutes, and it finally happened last night. CSP is young and learning too, and I think he now realizes at the Big 12 level you have to have more bench help for foul trouble and to keep the starters strong. Ashton can still give us spot minutes and won't hurt us, but Cooke is a guy that can handle the ball, create a little bit and shoot. Considering how little he's played for so long he handled the pressure great last night. He'll have his ups and downs like all our players do, but I'm really encouraged heading into the end of the season that it looks like our bench will now go another player deep in a productive player.

The key for Cooke to get minutes is to avoid stupid turnovers and bad fouls on D...he hasn't earned the leash Nader has in regards to the turnovers, but if he can play smart and aggressive, he should be getting more minutes going forward.

It's normal to want to go hard and make a play in the few chances you get. We seen it from nearly every transfer at first during the Hoiberg years before they pulled it all together and played as a team.

True. Hallice had a bad turnover down the stretch yesterday but he followed it up with probably the biggest 3 of the game. One of his turnovers was a terrible travelling call when he was diving after a ball and the other came when he was sandwiched dribbling between two guys, which could have been a foul. He needs to be smart with the ball but he's a good ball handler and also makes good things happen when he creates. With more pt he'll get more comfortable, like all players.
