I will say this. I am glad that we've got guys that want to take the big shot. Our guys may not always make them (and no player does), but Uthoff disappears late in the game.

Uthoff was a ghost the last 8-mins of the game

Iowa projected a #1 seed.
Such a tricky word, projected.

Haha Iowa a #1 seed? They may very well be projected as a 5 seed tomorrow. I will guess a 4. They had a cute little run though good for them. The selection committee takes into account how a team is playingate in the year as well that could very well drop them a spot on selection Sunday. They continue to go to Mike G late in games. Hilarious. Has he EVER once in his career hit a game winner with under 30 seconds to play?

Invisible, until the last play when he went down like a prom date.

Ah yes, the resorting to conference strength and touting a league that hasn't won a sweet 16 game in half a decade. Iowa is the #1 team on kenpom, projected 1 seed, and favorite to win the B1G. Let this thread dissolve already.

You dun goofed

Anything higher than a #5 seed would be complete joke. Any metric out there- RPI, BPI, KenPom would not support a 4 seed.

So let's wrap this thing up...

Niang is 3-0 vs. Uthoff.
Niang has had his team in the top 15 territory for the duration of his career.
Niang has been superior statistically to Uthoff throughout his entire career.
Niang is the winningest player in Cyclone history.
Niangs jersey will be in the raters next to Hoiberg.

Uthoff had a really impressive six week stretch. Really really pretty cute to try to compare him to Georges Niang.

And that may not be a good thing. They are capable of getting back to their late Jan run and if they do, they could easily be a S16 team

Turns out the answer was this. Thanks everyone for playing.

I think that Uthoff is a good player & I'd definitely welcome him on our team. He would likely be better on our team becuz he wouldn't have to feel the pressure to be "the man." He disappears in crunch time in many games. Because of this, I'd take Niang and Morris over him any day of the week. Our two guys aren't afraid to put the team on their backs when they need to. We haven't always had a great "last 10 seconds of regulation," but more often than not, these two usually step up & are not afraid to have the ball in their hands.

Of course they could. Just like we could easily be a S16 team or almost any top 25 team could be a Sweet 16 team.

I'll be honest.....I think that Iowa and Iowa State are pretty similar teams. I think that our resume is clearly better right now though.

Uthoff is having a good season. But I will never understand how or why he disappeared in the 2nd half of our game. I love Matt Thomas and he's turned into a great defensive player (and Georges played good defense on Uthoff for a while in that 2nd half), but there's no way they should have stopped him like that.

Uthoff appears confident so maybe he'll turn it around
