Re: If we make it to Chicago:

Wikipedia says Chicago is Friday/Sunday so that has to be right.

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

In before one game at a time
In before lets win this one first etc etc.........

IF we make it to Chicago: Has anyone been to the tourney there? Whats it like, hotels expensive? I cant imagine the tickets will be expensive given the other teams playing there...aside from Mich State.

Any discussion welcome

I live in Chicago - been to a tournament before ...when VCU killed Purdue a handful of years ago. Went with my Purdue friend/coworker and his friend who went to Purdue. Was going to catch the ISU-Purdue game with him, but now that Purdue lost...LOL

Anyway, essentially you want to stay downtown which is east of the United Center. The UC is in a weird area and surrounded by parking lots mostly. If you find a hotel in the area, it's going to be ******. The Green Line train goes semi close to there, otherwise you could catch a bus, uber, etc there. Downtown is completely different than the UC area. Downtown is nice, walkable, full of shops, restaurants, etc while the area around UC is parking lots for a little bit.

If you want a fun area, stay in River North. There's a bunch of bars, clubs, lounges, restaurants, etc there around streets like Hubbard Street (and the ones around there). You might see The Loop too but the area is boring as hell, though improving (TheWit hotel is OK though because it's close to the river). Most of the downtown nightlife is north of the river in River North, Gold Coast, and somewhat Streeterville. Some south of downtown but pales in comparison to what's north of it on average.

Well, travel time varies , but definitely River North. You could probably get to UC in under 10 or 15 minutes with not much traffic from there but it's just a few miles away. The most active parts are between about LaSalle St on the west, Kinzie St on the south, State Street on the east, and maybe Grand or Ohio Street on the north. Hubbard Street between LaSalle and State for example has a number of bars.

Pretty much hotels like Kinzie Hotel, Residence Inn, Hampton Inn, Hyatt Place, Aloft City Center, Westin River North, SpringHill Suites, Courtyard, Hilton Garden Inn are all right there. Don't stay at the Best Western, haha. Embassy Suites and Palomar Hotel close by too.

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

I'm guessing the "pep rally" will be at Murphy's, unless they want it closer to the UC because that will be a good 20-30 car ride depending on traffic.

I'm planning to buy tickets on Saturday (if we win). Get them before MSU wins and jacks up the prices. I'm guessing hotels won't change much in a city like Chicago.

Is Murphy's the place on Wells by Second City?

If we make it, the isu fans that ***** about the fact we never get a home game better show up in force. No excuse not to have 10k there unless Mich St is there.

JFC, we aren't players we are fans. He clearly stated IF they advanced there. Just a fan trying to plan ahead a little bit just in case.

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

Hotels are pretty cheap in South Cisero. Give that a try.

South Cicero street near Midway Airport? Why the hell would you stay there? Not only is it far away from the United Center, but there's nothing to do down there.

I just looked on HotWire.com for hotels Friday thru Sunday (25th thru 27th) and there's a bunch of deals for downtown hotels for under $100/night. 4 in River North for under $100/night and another 7 between $100/night and $125/night. More closer to the lake for these same prices. A bunch of ones near where you are talking about are like $85/night which isn't any different, or much cheaper at all than the deals for downtown, except downtown has a million more things to do than where you're talking about.

There's plenty to do. You could try getting mugged. Or if you're really bored, maybe even get stabbed.
