Re: If we make it to Chicago:

how far ahead of game time would you recommend being in town? Probably depends on time of day for the game, I suppose.
If the game is in the evening, you want to be in downtown Chicago before rush hour starts. And on a Friday evening, that would be before 3pm at the latest. Anything later and you are risking sitting on a gridlocked expressway for a loooooong time.

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

The first game will start between 6 and 7 CDT. I would get in the city before 3, if I was coming from outside the city.

If I remember right you are coming from around Madison, so taking 90 into the city can be a just a nightmare. But who knows what Good Friday will do to traffic. Typically on a Friday night leaving from Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, I would give myself at least 1 hour 1/2 to get to the UC. That is about 28 miles or so.

isn't there a day session and a night session? 4 games total?

how do you know we would be in the late session?

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

If we were the first game in Chicago, would I be able to sell my tickets to people who want to attend the second game only?

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

so how do we know we would be late game? I would think they would put MSU in prime time given the opportunity.
I would think that a Virginia vs ISU matchup would be better than an MSU vs Utah/Gonzaga/Seton Hall game but it's hard to tell.

Yeah, I don't know if that is set or something they will decide after Saturday. Good question.

we have family decently close to Woodfield so I was considering staying with them but yeah, even that was quite the haul. Yes, Madison area. We are both off next Friday anyway so getting in by 3 would be totally fine.

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

In before one game at a time
In before lets win this one first etc etc.........

IF we make it to Chicago: Has anyone been to the tourney there? Whats it like, hotels expensive? I cant imagine the tickets will be expensive given the other teams playing there...aside from Mich State.

Any discussion welcome

I never really thought you were the type to be concerned about cost.

Where you'd get that information?

I can't find it now, but I saw it listed as session one starting at noon (so second game would be 3ish) and Sunday 6:00pm.

Wish I could find this again. Somewhere selling tickets listed it that way.

That doesn't sound right with the other 2 games that day being in Philly.

Re: If we make it to Chicago:

Chicago/UC is not as difficult as everybody is saying. If it's a money thing I understand, but I can't imagine a more fun city to go to NCAA tourney games than Chicago.

-The area around the UC has been developing, it's not a place you'd hang out at but everyone will be fine on game day.
-Restaurant row is very close to there to eat before or after any games.
-Stay downtown and just cab/uber to within a few blocks and get out. Even with traffic it isn't that far from downtown hotels.
-Party just 15 blocks straight north on Damen in Wicker Park/Bucktown after the game. That's the de-facto UC neighborhood party spot and also simply the most fun place to go out and hang out. I'm biased because I lived there for a long time :)

Take the L around other parts of town if you make a trip out of it, or use the blue line to get from O'hare to your downtown hotel, but don't bother with public transit to the UC. It's not as convenient for it as the other major sports venues.

I don't think any Sweet 16 games start that early
