Steve Prohm may ultimately be a great coach at Iowa State. But to this point in his coaching career he hasn't accomplished 50% of what Fred did in 5 years. This situation is never going to arise but if there was a heading coaching position open and Fred agreed to a 10 year deal with obscene but out clauses I would do it in a heartbeat.

Fred hated recruiting but that didn't necessarily prevent us from having Top 20 talent. From an x and o's standpoint his a top 5 offensive coach in college basketball.

50%? That's just stupid.

Is this the most logical question, no. But it's laughable how defensive most of you get when Prohm and Fred are mentioned together. In a perfect scenario, there's no doubt Pollard, and all the fans, would rather have Hoiberg over Prohm.

It's mostly laughable how many people on here actually think Holberg liked being the coach here.

Why would Jamie want a coach that clearly never wanted to be at Iowa State? And who wasn't at all committed to a big part of the job (recruiting)? As it turns out, we would have been better off had Fred left a year earlier.

I still believe that Holberg will be a college coach again. But it won't be here.
and serious entered and replied in a completly stupid *** thread.

If he didn't like it, according to you, how did he feel about coaching here?

He won with Kennedy's players in his first year at Murray State after Kennedy left for AM. That team was stacked. In the next three years he didn't go to the NCAA Tournament despite having the best talent (maybe tied with Belmont) in the OVC. And last year he won 23 games with a very talented team that was handed to him.

People can hate Fred for leaving but lets not deny where this program was when he took over and that we went to 4 NCAA's in a row with him.

I don't know whether to be more worried about the ridiculousness of the OP or the people who tried to answer seriously.

Well, it took Fred 2.5 years to accomplish 50% of what Fred did in 5 years, so it's a little disingenuous to bag on Prohm for not accomplishing it in 1.

Yeah, let's fire a coach who made it to the Sweet 16 with the same players (minus a couple key ones) that the prior coach lost in the 1st round with.

I love you so much jsb. If I wasn't in a relationship, I'd take you out for a nice dinner and a few glasses of wine.

I love you too!

And I love a good Holberg thread filled with people who either think he would come back here and/or that he liked it here.

I haven't read the thread and won't waste my time doing that, but there is NO way Pollard fires Prohm and brings back Hoiberg at this point.
