It's the state of Iowa.

How AC/DC isn't in the mix for these types of things is kind of puzzling. Every time I'm back and listen to the local radio I'm reminded of how their air play hasn't changed, along with any band that had their moment in 1998.

I'm looking at you, Godsmack. Oh, how I miss that superficial rural/suburban teenaged angst.

Are you listening to Lazer? KGGO? Of course it's the same stuff. that's kinda their thing.

The dorks in IC already play AC/DC. Fits their greasy fan culture.

Let the players decide. Definitely don't let this board decide.

We have a myriad of examples of just how wrong this mindset is, you're confusing how we measure success with how that success is created. This is all part of building a successful program, if he does it well enough you'll get your wins.

Nothing was wrong with the culture after the Okie State win. I wonder what happened to change that.......

And yeah, my wins. I'm the only one who cares about winning, not about what stupid entrance song there is. Good one.

It's bs coachspeak. Most fans don't care what song the team comes out to. The obsession on this board about those things is sad. He can "change the culture" with social media all he wants. If we go 3-9 again this year, who cares?
Bear Bryant agrees with you....

Are you sure there was nothing wrong? ISU is 14-38 since that game and failed to capitalize on any of that momentum on the field or on the recruiting trail. If winning a few more games is all that matters why isn't CPR still here? That's exactly what he did, and the program only deteriorated.

Appealing to teens as a program is crucial, and teens care about dumb stuff like the "stupid entrance song", social media, jersey's, WWE, etc.

So the "stupid" stuff matters, no matter how much you dislike talking about it.

Basically joking around, but it's the CR-area stations FWIW. Kinda fun to reminisce but it's also kind of eerie. I think KRNA progressed to some newish sounds.

Definitely a players'/team thing. Even if fans don't dig the song, it has nothing to do with how a 3-4 hour game is going to go.

I think it is both. Players want to come out to something cool, but they also want the fans going nuts so they can tap into the stadium energy. And further, it is the fan reaction to the entrance that creates an imposing environment for the opposing team even before they run a play.

Entering to Back in Black is actually one of the better entrances in all of CFB, the first few notes get the crowd jacked, the crowd gets the players jacked, isn't that the idea? The music at the stadium isn't about the players, its about adding to the atmosphere in the stands, which in turn, should fuel the team. The best choices for these songs are well known songs that appeal to a mass audience, the athletic department should be in control of all gameday music, the idea is to establish something distinct that helps build tradition and can last longer than the current players, even coaching staff.

I wasn't a fan of Smoke on the Water but are there people who don't love the atmosphere at JTS? It may not be everyones favorite song but the enthusiasm on gamedays is as good as anywhere in the country so maybe that song did its job?

Most of the stuff they do at AIB Iowa City just seems to be living in the past. I would prefer something modern, but finding something with mass appeal that jacks up young adults while not being inappropriate for a couple of hills full of little kids is difficult. Really though they could play anything and I would be fine as long as we start winning more games than we lose.

We'll see how much it matters after another 3-9 season.
